My Dora and Oreo are 17 wks old. How much food should they been taking in in a day? They love their science diet both hard and soft food they can't seem to get enough but I'm worried about getting tubby kittens

As growing kittens, they really do burn fast and hot. At just over 4 months old, they run, they jump, they play hard ... they need the extra calories. Since their little metabolism rates are high now due to all that activity, I wouldn't worry so much about them getting tubby until they are a little older or less active. I feed mine 3 to 4 times per day about an ounce or so of their canned food (half of a small can per feeding) and I leave out a big bowl of their dry food all day long so they can nosh at will.

I feed kittens like I feed my kids, assuming that they have an internal monitor telling them what they need. I just put healthy choices in front of them, and let them eat as much as they want.

I have a friend who thought her kitten was eating too much, and I told her the same thing Gaye said. Playing and growing burns a lot of calories, and allowing them to set their own pace will help eliminate feeding problems later on, IMHO.
