Hi, me again

I started Marishka on Purina Kitten Chow because, honestly, she was a stray that wouldn't leave my garage who I never knew I would end up taking in, but we never found her home (so guess who got a cat? heh). So, I switched her over to Purina One Kitten food. We have almost 3/4 of the bag left still (when you don't want it to, it seems to last forever!), and I really want to get her eating either EVO or Natural Balance (I believe both are all ages formula, I'll have to check again). You think one of these is the best route for her? Something better?
Because of how picky she is on wet food, I wanted to wait until I had her eating more wet food than dry, but that may not happen for awhile (still trying though!). So, should I try the new food when I am starting to run low on the Purina One bag? Or, should I weight until she is about one year old (which is in 4 months- the vet thinks)? Or later? Or sooner?
I'm open to suggestions.

Evo and Natural Balance are both excellent foods. It isn't necessary to wait until you run out of her current food; you can just mix the new food with the old for a while. That will help her get used to it gradually.

What brands of wet food have you tried? My cats don't like the Natural Balance canned, but they love Evo and Wellness.

Haha, I think I have like three threads on cat food and how she won't eat it!

Oh, Lord...what haven't we tried?
We've tried:
Iams,
Eukanuba,
Nutro Natural,
Science Diet,
Whiskas,
Authority,
the Meow Mix pouch,
Meow Mix Market Selects,
and three store brands from various grocery and pet stores (but I honestly can't recall the names!)
She def. won't eat pate, mushy, or anything fishy (from what I've tried).

The only thing I can get her to eat more than one bite of is Fancy Feast, and even that isn't that exciting to her. That was the last I tried...I wanted to try a few others at a petstore in a city near here, but they only had cans in a few of the brands we hadn't tried, so I thought they would be pate. Is there any way to check without buying one? Is the Natural Balance, EVO, and Wellness canned a pate, or like a chunky gravy?

Could she really just not like wet food? She eats a good amount of dry food for as small as she is, and the vet isn't as concerned that she won't eat wet since she's eating dry food fine.

Thanks for your reply, and answering my dry cat food question : )

well, that's the case with my Pixel. she absolutely refuses to eat any wet food, so i feed a high quality dry. she & Java prefer the dry - Chip & Cable like the wet.

Some online stores sell sample packs that don't cost much at all if you want to try different brands.

Natural Balance and EVO are both pate style. I feed my kitties a rotation of the different Natural Balance flavors. Some of them are pretty juicy pates. Innova is good, but it too is a pate. If you haven't already, you might try Merrick. It's more like a shredded meat texture, and it is very juicy. They have lots of different flavors. Cowboy Cookout is beef, and Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Grammy's Pot Pie, and Turducken are poultry.

The only wet food that Rocky will eat consistently is friskies turkey & cheese. I know it's not great, but itsn't the worst.. He will also try any shredded food..

I think I spoiled my cats. I mix a handful of Purina Chow in each of their 3 bowls and add 1/4 can of Friskies (they seem to like Ocean Whitefish best) I mix it up and their they go. In the evening they get dry Purina chow only.
They do not like any shredded types and love Fancy Feast which they get on their birthdays and special occassions. They also like Purina indoor dry. I haven't tried Evo, Natural Balance or Wellness. Sometimes I add a little water to the dry Angel won't eat that but Mac & Mickey do. Congrats on your new kitty- the adventure now begins.
