Hi everyone...
I have several posts in "Behavior" regarding my problem and have received some good advice but I want other opionins on a piticular item..
I'm hoping the amount of people in the lounge may have some suggestions...
Please ...I am desperate!
I have 2 cats. 5 & 6 yrs old.
last month I introduced a newbie. 3 yr old. All fixed, all have claws. I did the seperation process and maybe moved a bit quick to get them together but things seemed ok for a while. The newbie was a show cat and is very friendly. He is fearless and in-your-face! In a good way unless your another cat I guess...
My cats didn't know what to do as he would walk up to their face no hesitation at all. My cats went after him (not toghether) at different times. Since then, HE chases them EVERY time I put them toghther.
The are totaly seperated during the day. I feel awfull keeping him in a seperate room. When I bring him up to the main part of the house, I lock up the other 2 but the newbiw hangs mostly by their door.
I tried Feliway, Vanilla to even their scent. Feeding together, that worked but the second they were done eating, one would walk away and the other would stalk and that was it.. Not just a little fight, scarey screaming, scratching fur flying fights. My MUrphy would hide after that.
So I rotate them as far as livingroom free time with the family. The newbie is a real peopl cat and I hear him meow when he is alone and it just breaks my heart..He is mostly in our down stairs room...He has a window and all ammenaties a cat needs but he wants out.
Now, I want to know what you all think of this.........................
My husbad says I should let them work it out. We should put the together when we are home and just let things happen.. I totally disagree..
Am I wrong?????
Will they work it out????????????
Or is it a dangerous situation? Also, my husband says we should put them together in closed door room(with us in there) so they can't chase each other. He feels the chase and stalking is what escalates the problem.
The thought of that scares me also.
Then the one trying to get away can't. Their fights ar pretty nasty..
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE.........I am so desperate for advice.
Thanks Judith
