Is my Cat in 'Season'

Hiya all,

Just wondering if my little cat who's only 5 months old could be having her first season.

She is getting rather excited with my dog. He is sniffing at her bottom region and she seems to like it. It's been like it for a bout 2 weeks now, but only for about a day each week.

My previous cat used to cry a lot and put her bottom into the air.

Does each cat have their own cycle?

It certainly sounds as though she may be ... a lot of kittens have a very mild, almost "silent" estrus cycle the first time so her behavior may be due to it being her first. You can have her spayed now, in fact, the sooner the better and of course, absolutely do NOT let her have access to outdoors. Keep two doors between her and the outside at all times until she is spayed or you will wind up caring for a very young, inexperienced queen with a litter of kittens she doesn't know what to do with.

She can actually be spayed now....contact your vet and find out how early they are willing to spay her.

Yes get her scheduled for a spay now - don't wait. Sounds like she's in mild heat and if she gets outside, she will get pregnant. Ling's first heat lasted 3 days and was very mild.
