So I wore a sports bra that ok might be a teeny bit to small for me today.
While it wasn't overly warm it was a bit humid while Neil and I worked on our brick patio today. I got sweaty as usual and this afternoon (late) the bra was bothing me-I have a 6" welt most likely from sweating from the heat-talk about painful. So this evening while working the girls weren't confined because of were the welt is!!

I put an herbal salve on it but not can't wear a bra as I am afraid I will end up causing more problems and rub this area raw!!

Any suggestions on how to work on patio and heal this thing up quicker???

If you're not big busted, don't worry too much about it. As long as the girls aren't doing painful skin on skin on the welt, just wear cotton t-shirts and change them if they start to get damp. Expect to change them several times a day!

If you are big busted, wear a soft cotton shirt inside of your bra - use a loose fitting sports bra if possible, or a maternity/no-underwire if you have it. You can try it with an underwire if you think you will be more comfortable. If you're big busted, wearing the bra is preferable to your 'girls' rubbing on the welt, making it worse. Again, change if you are becoming damp. I am big busted (34J) and I've had to do this when my allegeries have caused me to get a rash.

Feel free to take quick 'rinse' showers every time you change the t-shirt, and reapply salve once the skin is dry.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
Can you put a bandaid or a gauze on it? I did that when I had spider bites under my boob and they itched like the dickens! I put cortozone on the bandaid and stuck it on the best I could, then I put the bra over that. Worked pretty well all things considered. I couldn't go braless, I was working!
Boy would that've been a sight!

The girls have to be confined!!! There is a bit of skin on skin unfortunatley.
I have better fitting sports bras-they were in the wash and I grabbed this one-which will be washed and put in the goodwill bag now!!

Make sure to put a cotton shirt on under the bra - crop it short and cut the sleeves if you like, but don't go without - the welt will heal much faster and you will be much, much more comfortable while it does.

Edited: because I have dyslexia.

Thanks for the advice I'm hoping it will be better tomorrow. I usually wear a sports bra and shorts around the house so this is going to put a crimp into my dressing!!

Oh goodness. I think you've been given great advice.

My relative was burning down some logs on their property up near the lake, and the water (sweat) in her bra got so hot that she had second degree burns shaped like a bra when they were done. A hilarious story later, but sooo painful at the time!

And may I suggest a professional bra fitting, so it doesn't happen again? It's amazing how wrong we are about our size. I wear a band size smaller and a cup size bigger than I had been wearing for years. Yikes! I bought a new one and OMG it was actually comfortable!

Sorry but that is funny! Can I ask where you can get a professional bra fitting?

I think Victoria's Secret does them. We have a Marshall Fields (soon to be Macy's)in one mall and the y do them sometimes. Its just that I grabbed the wrong sports bra-its a good champion brand- I'll have to give it to my sis as she is smaller than I!!!

I have had one done at Victoria's Secret a few years ago. All I remember is being told they don't carry my size!
I usually buy that stuff online and measure myself or have my mom do that for me and go with their online chart.

Any department store worth its salt will have someone working in the lingerie dept who knows how to do one. You don't have to pay for it or anything. Typically it is an older woman who does it. I got mine done at Elder's when I was getting my first bra, and the one this year at Kauffman's. I guess just call around and ask the lingerie departments around you.

There are also stand-alone places that do a professional fitting and only sell lingerie. Here's one in Chicago: http://www.myintimacy.com/homepage.html I'm sure they charge though!

Check out the sport's bras on this website. They are wonderful. They carry larger sizes- for those of us over a D it can be nearly impossible to find a sport's bra!!

The little bar bells at the top help tell you the best type of bra for your activity level. The more bars the more stable. They have a great selection of wicking bras (bras which pull away sweat and help it evaporate), which will help with chaffing and yeast or other ouchies.

Your doctor should be able to give you a topical treatment, if you find you get those red bumps under your breasts.

If you're going to be getting sweaty, or have some sort of heat rash, throw some talcum powder whereever it's rubbing/red. Makes a world of difference!

Maybe try some of the Advanced Healing Blister bandaids? They're padded to reduce pressure and therefore soreness....
