Spots had her kittens last Sunday. She is out and about (in the house) now, she leaves them when they are sleeping. Is this ok? I can understand her not wanting to be cooped up 24/7 but now she is out and playing with the other cats.

As long as she comes back to care for them, its ok. My females took breaks. I remember when my Russian Blue had her litter. She left the box and my neutered male took over - he carefully laid in the box and cuddled around the kittens. Mom never objected.

I would say that is ok as long as:

1. all cats are up to date on shots and are healthy
2. there is absolutely no way that she can get outside

Most cats that escape and come home pregnant have mated with an outdoor male whose health history is unknown...which is why it is a good idea to be cautious about interactions with other cats to ensure that the existing cats do not catch something from the mom and vise versa.

Yeah, you can tell the my baby is still young and when she needs her break, she needs her break. She made us laugh the other day because she had her kits crawling all over her and one was nursing and she had this look like, "OK, THAT IS IT, I CAN'T TAKE IT!!" LOL
She politely got up flipping every kit off her and walk away taking a breather. She came back about 20-30 min.s later. But as long as she comes back, and doesn't refuse to nurse them she's fine.
