I have two cats. A third is on its way. The older cat is Lacy shes almost a year old. Cody is about 8 months old. They played all the time. You never saw Lacy without Cody and vice versa. Now Lacy seems to be terribly scared of him. You see we just got Cody neutered and thats when the trouble began. I'm wondering if his scent changed either from just being neutered or from just the vets visit? Lacy and Cody have been to this vets office (not at the same times) and they both come home fine to continue their playing and chasing. I don't want to believe it was just in the vets visit but in the neutering maybe? I don't want to sound like a weird pet owner but Cody actually seems a little hurt that shes actting this way.

Last night we had them locked in our bedroom. Cody spent the whole night making special calls to her (I'm assuming) and all she would do is hiss. He even tried to run over to her to play with her. All she does is bat and hiss. I think he remembers her perfectly but shes being a tad evil.

We had this problem when my wife and I first introduced Cody to the apartment. But we left them together in our living room and 2 days later they were friends. Maybe the same deal will happen again. but I'm curious bout the neutering and scent change deal.

Its probably the scent from the vets office. Try putting some vanilla on each of their necks so they smell the same.

Hey Mikey...first, congrats on getting your cat neutered. Secondly...it is probably the scents from the vet office and all the chemicals that were used for his neuter. What I would do is to rub your girl with a towel and then rub your boy with the same towel....hopefully it will help her to "recognize" him again.
