Hi everyone
I'm new here, and glad to have found a site for cat lovers.

As you can see from my profile I have 2 cats. Both rescues and one was feral (mainecoon), now domesticated. I have grooming issues with my mainecoon, and am just not comfortable sending her to a groomer, for a couple of reasons. She is actually really good in the bath, just hates being brushed, and unfortunately she developes matted hair on her lower back very easily.

My other cat is a tuxedo cat, very friskie. He is my little love bug.

My cats dislike eachother, and after 4 years living together still do not get along
I have no idea how to change the situation.

I've had cats my entire life. These two have been the most challenging. but I'm determine to give them a good life with all the comforts I can afford.

Welcome to TCS! You will find a lot of useful info in these forums about maybe re-introducing your kitties (I don't know if it is too late for that or not). See you on the forums!

Welcome to The Cat Site! I'm sorry about your kitty's matted fur. Can you take her to a groomer and get her groomed once more and just be more diligent about combing her? Maybe they can recommend a different comb for you? Mine are short haired but they get matted. It's my fault because I am not as good about brushing as I should be because they growl and bite me.

If I can help you with any questions about the site, please click on my user name and send me a private message.

Well, I do try to keep up on the matted hair situation. She will only let me brush her a little. She really hates it. I brush her till she starts growling at me, then stop before I pull away a bloody stump.

The problem with a groomer, is I think they would have to sedate her, which I guess would be fine, but I would rather do the grooming if I had her sedated. Not to mention...my other cat will not know who she is once I bring her home from a groomer and that freaked out behavior can go on for up to 2 days. He always get's freaked out after I give her a bath, cause he no longer recoginzes her smell.

If I could find some sort of mild sedative, I seriously could take care of her mats in a matter of seconds without putting her through the whole groomer thing.

I think we have the same ish, Oscar gets violently aggresive when I first tried taking him to a groomer, so I don't, I groom him, It was dfficult because I was more used to grooming dogs, but I learned grooming in time

Oscar's short haired, but he sometimes get matted, I use 2 different brushes.
