New food - what do you think?

I had to pick up dry food tonight and the pet store didn't have any Royal Canin for Siamese which is what I've been giving them.

Our local pet store chain (Pet Valu) has their own brand called Performatrin which I've fed before to my other cats as I heard it was a good food.

I checked all the labels and was very disappointed in one of the Holistic brands - the first ingredient was WHEAT.

Anyway, I kept reading and found Performatrin Ultra Hormone-free Chicken and Brown Rice Formula. It also says on the bag, "No Artificial Preservatives, Flavors or Colors", "No Animal By-Products or Rendered Animal Fats, and "No Wheat or Corn By-Products". The ingredients are as follows and in order of listing:

Phew - what a list. Glad I can type without looking at the keyboard!

So what do you think? Is this a good food for the dry? They get Merrick wet twice a day and the dry to "graze" on during the day. I gave the kitties a few kibbles to try and they gobbled it up like it was one of their treats.

Crude Protein - 33.0% min
Crude Fat 19.0% min
Crude Fiber 3.0% max
Moisture - 10.0% max
Ash 6.0% max


Calorie Content: 383 kcal/8 fl. oz. cup.

since they arent eating just that it is fine... it has barley so any wheat allergy kitties shouldnt try it ... A bit grain heavy but it still in "MY RANGE " at 1 meat to 2 grains .... Veggies and friut in cat food I wont go into it , just had that discussion with the vet..
Overall with happy healthy kitties it should do fine ... I do worry a bit on the dandelion ( I need to recheck that with current vet)

I was hoping you would respond Sharky. I value your opinion greatly. I was just thrilled to find one with no by-products and meat as the first ingredient.

Actually the Merrick's wet food has veggies in it too so my kitties are definitely getting their veggies.
