Electrical Storm....

Right now we're having a bit of an electrical storm so I decided to take some pics of it while I was outside. I caught it almost at the end of it so these pics don't really justify it. These were taken at 9:30 at night and it looks almost like 9:30 in the morning!

I even got a short little video of it.

This COULD be a dumb question but is it turning your sky green? I have never seen that! It HAS been a long day so I could just be dumb after the kind of day I've had....

Nope you're not seeing things.. It's green. It's been odd weather here lately.
If I would have gotten the camera a little sooner you would have seen it lighting up the sky like fireworks..It was pink, purple, blue and green.. it's weird.. All the neighbors were outside oohing and awwing over it...

Very pretty! I love lightning and thunderstorms, as long as they don't get too severe!

OMG if I ever see a sky the color of that first picture again you'll find me in the basement bathtub clutching Zissou... that sky to me just screams TORNADO.

Of course I watched the video and it is just a flash of color, but the first picture made me panic even over the monitor.

I've seen skies permanently that color and it equals trouble.

I hope all is well for you this hurrican season.

Yeah girl..Me too. I know how you feel. When skies are that color...I'm hiding in the nearest basement. No matter what. I have to agree that watching that scared the heck outta me.
I literally panic when skies are like that. I panic though whenever I see "Severe Thunderstom Watch", that's scary stuff right there.

What the heck is an electrical storm anways?!

I am terrified of tornadoes even though I have never been in one.

Oh my goodness!!, green skies are scary!

Unfortunately, you pretty much get used to lightning when you live in Florida. We get some nasty lightning storms here, but tornadoes really don't form as often here as they do in other places.
We do have to be on the lookout for them when a TS or Hurricane passes through.. especially when we are experiencing the weather from the northeast quadrant of the storm.

We're having what they call "brown outs" here in Philly. It was complete bedlum in the city yesterday. All the traffic lights were out, our 1 bldg had no power, no phones, no AC or anything. The intersections were to be treated like 4 way stops, but drivers were just seeing the car in front of them start to go, so they assumed the light was green & would follow, there were 2 accidents 1 block away, none in front of my bldg. But I did see 3 pedestrians almost get hit by cars. It was pretty scary....

I don't think I would have been out there at all I am scared to death of lightening
post #21 of 23
Yeah, I'm with the others, green skies=oh no!! strikes fear into my heart even though I've never been in a tornado, but I do live in our local tornado bullseye, the trailer park

I agree with the others a greenish sky in the midwest signals potential dangerous weather-that is some color of green!!
