Hi, Could anyone tell me if a cat gets much larger after 7 weeks of pregnancy? Bluebell seems very large and the kitten shapes seem big, i'm afraid that she will have a lot of trouble giving birth if she gets much bigger. She is approx 7 weeks 4 days, although the vet said she may be a week further on. She was seen with a boy and the date would equate to her being 7 weeks 4 days. Oh i'm so confused!!!! She is a british short hair but the father ( i think ) is the local Mr Tom from up the road!!!!

she can go into labor anytime from day 60 on. so if your vet thinks she is 8 weeks and 4 days, then she is VERY close, and would explain on why she is so big. do you have anything set up for her?

Yes, I have made a bed for her and have towels, scissors, thread etc.. ready The trouble is i can't keep her in because the children are at home and keep leaving doors open. She isn't out as much as she was because she seems tired and fat!!

DEFF keep her inside if shes this close. keep her in a spare room if you have to! she could get out and have the babies outside then you will never find them.

What I would do then is buy a large metal dog crate and keep her in the crate whenever you cannot supervise the children. It is of the utmost importance that your girl remain indoors only through her pregnancy and until her kittens are weaned and she can be safely spayed. If she gets out any time after the birth of these kittens...she can become pregnant again, and it is unadvisable for a cat to carry a second litter so close to the first one. Typically the second litter is not as healthy as the first set. Please do all you can in order to keep your cat indoors....talk to your children about keeping a close eye on mom cat (who really should be secured in one room with her kittens) before opening any doors that could lead outside.
