We have a pool. It came with our house. It's just a smallish above-ground pool. How difficult it is to take care of totally depends on how much you keep on top of it.
Last year Pat was "in charge" of it and we had all sorts of problems. Of course, he wouldn't read a manual or listen to any authoritative source how to take care of it. He just did what "the guys" told him to do. (As in "Oh, you don't need to do THAT...I just throw chlorine in mine and it's fine.) We had problems with it all last year, and when we opened it this summer it was just FULL of algae. He was so angry he was ready to tear it down. I told him I'd take over the pool at that point.
It took me two weeks and 22 lbs of chlorine to clean up his mess. I've actually READ the directions and I actually DO what the people at the pool store tell me I should do. I spend a couple minutes each day testing the water levels and adding chemicals if I need to. I also brush the sides and vacuum it a couple times a week. It takes about 45 minutes each time. The water's now perfectly clear and we don't have any problems. (Which Pat attributes to the new filter...which we had to buy after he broke the old one. You didn't think he'd actually ADMIT I was doing it right, did you?
Of course, he still "supervises" me.)
