It has been quite hot here and I have had the cooler off since they were born (Sunday). I notice the mom sleeps away from them for short periods of time, but always goes bak to them. Could it be that it may be a little too hot? I have had the cooler off but we are all sweating bullets! I was going to turn it back on this weekend, and cover the vent in the room with a towel.

I had my thermostat set to 79F and a friend came over and saw Meeka panting in the nest. It was about 110F outside so most likely it was hotter inside than it read. So she turned the air down to 76F and it seemed to help. If mom leaves at that temperature though it might be too cool.

i bring the babies out of the uncooled bathroom during the day after i get out of work, and thats 70 degrees or so with the ac on in the room. they seem to be fine with it. mom jumps in and out of the basket their in whenever she wants to feed them, then goes and sleeps in her old blanket. the bathroom is usually about 85 degrees, and i think thats a bit to hot for them.

OK, that's good enough for me...I am going to put the cooler back on! I will cover the crate with a blanket except for the end with the door, and it should be fine.
