You got your cartiledge done when you were 12? My mom had a fit and I was 19 and not living at home. The thing is my mom has a bad memory so every time she saw it, it was new and I've been hearing it ever since.

I got mine done at 12 too and my dad asked me the other day how I got my earring to stay on my ear even though I didnt have it pierced!

So, i got away with that one for 11 years!

I had it done at a Clairs when I was like 19. I couldn't sleep on that side for a long time. I wore an earing in their for a couple years. I took it out and it closed, though you can still feel the hole in the cartilage. I'm sure if it was reopened it wouln't be as bad. It hurts WAY worse than regular ear piercing.
My dad kept noticing it like every 6 months and say, hey when did you do that? I had the same conversation at least twice. My mom was a pain about getting my ears pierced. Wanted it done in 4th grade, she said no, wanted it done in 6th, she said no, finally relented. So then I would pierce them again myself later on.. I think I ended up with three holes total in each ear. And I don't even wear earring very often anymore.

I had mine done about 7 years ago, at a local tattoo parlour. They used a needle, and the actual piercing didn't hurt at all, but afterwards it was quite painful and felt hot (although it wasn't infected). I can't remember how long it took to heal; the guy who pierced it for me told me to clean it with Spectro Gel and witch hazel, and rub vitamin E oil over it.

I still occasionally have problems with it, but mostly when it snags on something (like my pillow or my hair) and then twists. Oh, and rollercoasters ... The harnesses on rollercoasters always bash against my earrings, and while the piercings on the lower half of my ears tend to bleed, the piercing through the cartiledge at the top of my ear hurts more (but doesn't bleed).

Mine's in the right ear. I could care less if it's "wrong."

Any piercing done through cartiledge will act up or behave crankily once and a while...it does NOT want to be bumped around AT ALL! Those goes for helix (upper ear piercings...most common), tragus (have one of these), industrial (I had one of these...it's two cartiledge piercings joined by one long barbell...it NEVER healed correctly...bled like crazy, and was HORRIBLE), conch piercings (have both of mine done), nostril and septum piercings (had my nostril done), etc. They tend to have more healing problems, get bumped around more, get snagged on hair and clothes, ouch!!!!!!!!! But they're so purdy!!!!

My mom and dad were both with me. I have cool parents.. well, not your average parent's anyway. My dad had one of his done at the same time with me
Now, when I got my tongue pierced, NOONE was happy about that, and I was 21!

I got my upper ear pierced for the first time in 8th grade, with a gun, at Claire's (small jewelry store in malls). Never had any trouble at all with it. I got a second hold peirced right under the first after I graduated high school, at a tattoo parlor with a needle (very clean place, same place I got my tattoo). But that one never healed. It was constantly sore and got infected often. After 2 years of trying to get it to heal, I finally gave up and took the earring out. The hole healed up fine, no problem. I have no idea what caused it to happen that way....so I don't know what to tell you about getting it done with a gun or a needle. But I don't remember it hurting too bad, except when the one got infected.... Good luck, and I want to see a picture!

I'm pretty nervous, and I'm not sure how we'll be getting it done. I guess it varies from person to person on getting it done with a gun or a needle!
2 of my cousins got it done with a gun, and so did John and they've never had problems.... now I'll get it done with a gun and it'll get infected, my luck!

I'm super psyched to get it done.... I'm just in one of those moods where I wanna get something pierced or tattoo'd

I have 6 piercings (3 in each ear) and my belly button pierced and 1 tattoo.... I want another tattoo, and so does John (he has 2) so he can't tell me no!

I want a memorial for my Uncle & Grandparent's who died a few years ago - on my side, I'm still determining what I'm going to do!

I don't even know what most of those are!!

I went through a rebel stage and got the cartilage in my ear, my tongue and nipple done (over a period of a couple of years...). The ear was fine - on the left side and done with a gun. I'm pretty sure I had no issues with it.

The tongue swelling went down fast and the long bar kept getting caught in my teeth while I was talking, so I tried to change it in a McDonalds since it was driving me nuts and it bled everywhere... You should have seen the looks of people coming in trying to use the bathrooms. I think I put a few people off lunch...
My hands were shaking, but I eventually got the short bar in and it was soooooo much better! Healed easy.

Nipple was REALLY sore! Who woulda thought huh????
Getting it done was about a second of pain, but then afterwards, for ages, a slight bump would knock it and gee it was sore! It wasn't infected, just very sensitive!

Ear - that's nothing, you'll be fine

I agree about no guns. I honestly don't think any piercing should be done with a gun. If my kids want so much as their earlobes pierced, it's being done by a piercer with a needle. You can't clean those guns as well as you can be assured of a surgery-grade needle being opened right in front of you.

My cartilage piercing is 14-gauge. Get at least an 18-gauge, not a 20 (which is what the guns do) so you can find pretty jewlery.

I got the 14-ga in my ear at the same time as my nose. The ear hurt worse, honestly. And you can hear it which is gross, so be prepared for that! My nose healed in about 3 days, and was fine after. My ear took a long time, and got infected. It's harder to keep it clean and keep shampoo and stuff out of it.

All healed now! I don't always wear my nosering, but I always wear the ear one. I have a pretty earring that is like this one: http://www.mspiercing.com/Product/tw...rbell-374.aspx

Wow this post was way longer than I expected!

I had mine pierced with a gun and it never healed. I had it done in my right ear, which is the one I always hold my phone to. I was a teenager at the time, so I was on the phone a lot and I think it irritated it. It hurt for several months and I finally took it out.

I think you will be much more sucessful than I was with mine... I think the place that pierced mine didn't do a very good job
