I just brought home my new 6 month old kitten Marley on Friday. I also have my 2 year old cat Blue. I am having trouble getting Marley to eat kitten food, he only seems to want the food I give Blue. I just bought a bag of Purina One's Complete Care which is supposed to be for cat's of all ages, so that's what I've been feeding Blue. But I would still like Marley to eat only his kitten food. Is it really necessary for him to only eat kitten food or is adult cat food ok for him?

I'm by no means an expert, so I can't tell you anything for sure. There is another member on here that has a young kitten and an adult cat (BabyHarley), and she had a good idea about mixing the kitten and adult food in both bowls, that way each cat will still get what they need, no matter which bowl they choose to eat from!

I adopted a three month old kitten a couple weeks ago, and she likes to eat the food for the older cats instead of her kitten food.. and the older cats are even eating her kitten food. I don't know what to do about this either, so I guess I'm looking for help also.

I leave the adult food out all the time, but I usually put Gretta in a room (around her nap time is a good time) with her kitten food all to herself, as one of my cats is allergic to fish, and can't have the kitten food. She gobbles it right up, since it obviously tastes better than the kinda expensive, all life stages, non "fish" food
. Maybe an option for you, if you don't want the big cats eating it? Mixing a little wet food in might make it more appetizing, too.
Hope this helps

I'm not that concerend with Blue eating the kitten food, I'm more worried about Marley eating adult food and not the kitten food. I've read that kitten have different nutritional needs than adults and that's why they need the kitten food.

Check your bag of adult food///

in fine print should be an AFFCO statement about matenance , growth or wt control... if it says all life stage your kitten will grow just fine on that formula ... if it says matenance then you need to separate and make kitten eaten kitten food
