I'm feeling really overwhelmed right now. There's just too many things I have to deal with at the same time.

1- The heat! Very hot, very humid and no air conditioning. It just makes everything else worst

2- I have really bad cramps today.

3- I am taking two summer classes (they're intensive, so it's the equivalent of 4 classes) and they're both turning out to be more difficult than expected. I really didn't want to take two classes (I wanted to take it easy for the summer) but I had to for funding reasons.

4- I actually got a B in my midterm in one of my classes. I don't think I ever had as low as a B before. And this is a first year level class

5- I have a part time job at the university where I get to choose my own hours. Well, I haven't done any hours in a week now and I really wanted to get my hours done before the end of the summer.

6- I need to start looking into grad school, start thinking about applications, study for the GRE, etc. I haven't done ANY of that yet

7- I hate my Spanish prof. She treats us like we're high school students and it really bugs me.

So with all that stuff to deal with, I am feeling really overwhelmed. Worst of all, I will probably end up being exhausted by the time I start my regular semester in September... and I can't have that because those classes will be very challenging and very important!

I need a hug

The heat and cramps are temporary-can you spend some time on the cool hopefully a/c library?? How many weeks of summer school left??
I'm a great one for making lists-you need to prioritze whats important and then for each task (grad school for instance what steps you need to do) but what can wait until fall-anything??? One step at a time-you should like you have lots going on right now-you need to finish up with summer school first I think before worrying about grad school. Take a deep breath...

((((marie))))

Hopefully your cramps aren't from the heat, that's a sign of nearing heat exhaustion. I know there is somewhere on campus you can go and stay cool!

There's about 3-4 weeks of summer school left. Then I will get 2 weeks off before the beginning of the Fall semester. Hopefully that will be enough to recharge my batteries. (I will FORCE myself not to do any work during those weeks... I'll get out of town if I have to)

I need to start thinking about grad school soon because I need to apply in the Fall. And I have no idea where I even want to go.

No, cramps aren't from the heat.
I'm not on campus today. I could go but it's a 30 minute walk... and in this heat, I don't really feel like walking today. I'll go to the public library instead.

Hang in there kiddo, you will do great. Making the list and prioritizing will help. You really need an airconditiner. You can get a 5000 btu for around a hundred dollars, I know that seems like a lot, but it will make a world of difference as far as getting things done at home and feeling overwhelmed. No mom or dad to get the cash from? Any relatives with an old AC in the basement? Just keep plugging away. You will manage, and a B is great in my book. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thanks a lot everyone!

I'm feeling a bit better now. I spent the afternoon at the public library, which was comfortably cool and gave me time to do some school work. I read 50 pages.
I also bought some mini-pizzas for dinner (small enough to fit in the toaster oven) so that's taken care of. I usually prefer to stick with home made food, but I just dont want to have to worry about that now.

(I did feel the hugs you sent... but the cool air must be slower because it's not here yet!)

Lots more hugs from me to you.... !!!!

I'm sorry about the heat... and you definitely do need to do some serious R&R when you finish your summer school... I did it once, and then had an internship the next summer... you get so exhausted, and it's just not worth it.

Your B -- it's okay. You are probably one of those people that stress out over grades? Me too... and believe me, one B out of all the classes you take isn't going to be a big deal is still a fantastic GPA.

Your GREs... I just took them. DO set aside some time to study for them ... but don't stress too much about them.

Good luck!
