My cats been eating sheba for most of her meals for a while, but now shes a senior cat is this product no good for her?
I thought this too this is why i was buying it??Originally Posted by Sar
I don't know about Sheba overseas, but here - as far as I remember - it is made from human grade meat.
I do believe that because of the different pet food laws, it is more than likely that our Sheba is fine.Originally Posted by twilight

I'd be surprised if that were true, because Sheba is considered an expensive, inferior food in Germany, where EU laws apply, too.Originally Posted by Sar

But you can get foods like Almo and Schesir that are 98% - 100% meat or fish, and aren't more expensive than Sheba, because an average sized cat eats two little cans or pouches a day. If you buy Sheba, you're paying for all their advertising, not for quality food.Originally Posted by urbantigers
Sheba do a variety of foods - I know the basic sheba in the foil trays is just 4% meat and is, imo, comparable to whiskas, felix etc. They do other ones though which may have a higher meat content.
I don't think you can get Schesir in shops over here, although I have bought it mail order from zooplus (german company). almo nature is only available in selected pet stores - fortunately for me it is available in a store fairly near me, and I can also get it from zooplus. I agree that those are better foods. The foods available in supermarkets here are generally restricted to the poorer quality foods, with the exception of hi life which has a high meat content. Pet stores such as pets at home also stock natures menu (which has recently become available in Tescos) which is 70% meat. Other than that, it's hard to get good quality wet food over here unless you're prepared to shop online.Originally Posted by jcat

Same here in Germany. I buy almost all my cat food online, because it's cheaper than in the pet stores, and you can get free shipping if you order enough. I buy a lot from zooplus, but am often irate about how sloppily they pack stuff. Supermarkets usually carry Whiskas, Kitekat, Sheba, and their store brand(s). Yuck.Originally Posted by urbantigers

lol, I have to agree! The last time I ordered from zooplus I had to go and collect the parcel from the parcelforce depot. Apart from having no string or anything around the box so that it was difficult to carry, everything was just chucked in there and was rolling around together! They are good for getting hold of better quality wet food though. The sad thing is that so many people feed the supermarket brands because they have no idea there's anything better out there (tbh I did for many years).Originally Posted by jcat

I'm a member of zooplus's (German) forums, and you wouldn't believe how many people complain about packing and shipping. They now have a new distribution center, but I don't see much improvement.Originally Posted by urbantigers
