I just went into the kitten's bathroom to let them out for their evening exercise (also known as climbing up the back of the couch and jumping off 500 times in the course of 2 hours) to find that for once, the kitten's bathroom didn't stink--I'll explain that later.
The kittens are about 7.5 weeks old and pretty much since the day they were born, the bathroom (which we no longer use at all) has stunk to high heaven despite my desperate attempts to freshen it up. I have tried car air fresheners stuck high on the mirror, washing down the surfaces with lavendar baby shampoo. Last week, I finally gave into my overwhelming desire to bleach every surface in that bathroom. (Don't worry, I let the kittens stay out until the smell dissipated and went back over the surfaces with lavendar baby wash.) Let me tell you, it was cathartic! (but, unfortunately, temprorary.)
So just now, I go in and the room smells surprisingly good. I scooped Ruby's box, changed out the kittens' booxes, and swept this morning, but that still doesn't explain this pleasant smell coming out of my bathroom. Upon further investigation I find that one of them (don't know who to blame as they all can get on the counter) has knocked over the Johnson & Johnson's Lavendar Baby Wash (which I had accidentally not "popped" closed) and there is a 12 x 12 puddle on the floor. I cleaned it up the best I could. The floor is still a bit sticky, but it smells great!
I really got a chuckle out of the whole situation. I can't wait to reclaim that bathroom for my daughters. I am so tired of seeing rubber ducks in my jacuzzi tub!
