No, but it sounds like someone who has been slugged and is unconscious on the ground.

Am I close?

Or the Star Trek variation - "Not operating on all thrusters..."

(I just completed my collection of ST movies on DVD and now am aspiring to getting all 5 TV series on DVD - but I think I need to win the lottery first! )

AS for "kick the bucket", I recall a movie comedy where a character actually does that as he dies. His leg jerks and he kicks a bucket.

(It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World if I recall correctly.)

I posted 'bit the big one' earlier, and have heard of 'bite the bullet' but I thought that last one meant to do something that is very difficult. They used to give you a bullet to bite down on in field hospitals during war when they had no anesthesia, hence the phrase: bite the bullet.

Oh, I though the parrot was "pining for the fjiords". Love the one about the cheese shop and also the different wines.

euphemisms for death are fascinating, "kicked the bucket" is one of my favs. And I just have to quote the infamous Monty Python dead parrot sketch:
"He's not pining! He's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be. He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff. Bereft of life, he rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history. He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible! This is an EXPARROT"

Raining cats and dogs is fun too.

KatieMae, really? I grew up in "A-HIa"

The funniest sayings I have ever heard, I've only ever heard in the south, it's unfortunate that none are really repeatable
