Jerry was coming home from the firestation last night at midnight.....he is driving along and comes across two little boys pulling a suitcase, going down the street.........it's pretty much a business district, so he pulls into a parking lot and gets out and asks the little fella's where they're headed. He said the said they were headed to their friends house, "over there" somewhere....pointing off into the distance........Well, Jerry of course called the police and they showed up within minutes.......to make a long story short, they were running away from home..........said they're mom yelled at them, so they waited till she was asleep, packed a bag and were leaving.....

Scary to think what kids might do after thier parents are asleep......

Naturally the police took them back home and all was well, but I shudder to think if the wrong person had stopped to talk to them................

Oh my gosh, that could've ended so badly. Just think it'll probably become a funny story they'll tell at family get-togethers. Lucky it was Jerry who stopped.

Were they planning on joining the circus? That's sad, but kinda cute as well. I remember those old images of a kid who made a knapsack out of a pillowcase and a stick and was running away to join the circus. I'm glad your husband found them!

in a pile of open toed shoes!
My older sister "ran away" when she was about 6 or 7. It was during the day, she got in trouble for something, and was so mad at my mom, she packed her suit case and snuck out the door. All we know is 10 minutes later the mailman came to the door, and said he found Kimberly at the corner crying, and when he asked her what was the matter, she told him "my mommy doesn't love me anymore and I'm running away" he asked why was she crying and she said "because I'm not allowed to cross the street!"
So she could only get 2 houses away!

What a hero Jerry is!!!!

I ran away lots, but I was never bright enough to go someplace they wouldn't look.
They always found me within a few hours, usually at a friend's house (who's mom I'm sure had our number memorized), or at my sister's
