Black cats?

Hi everyone! This is officially my first post as a new fur momma.
Anyhow, I just got my kitten Zara (7 months) last week and I love her already! She was the biggest surprise I have ever gotten! Anyway, my lovely fiance brought her home because her last owners were moving and couldn't take her with them. Needless to say, I don't know much about cats and I was wondering if she was just your standard black cat or if there was infact different breeds of black cats. Thanks in advance.

Aww she is beautiful! I am a sucker for black cats, two of mine are all black. Anyways, your cat is just a domestic short hair moggie (mutt) cat. There is one breed of all black cat that I know of and that is a Bombay but I beleive they are pretty uncommon to have just found one. How old is she? Has she been to the vet yet? There is a lot of helpful information here and we can answer most of your questions. Post over in the health or care forums.

Hi there! I love black cats too. I had an all black cat growing up, Shadow that we had for about 16 years I think it was. I'm real attached to one of my foster babies that's black too.

First cat i ever had i got from the APL she was 1-2 years old and the owner just dropped her off. due to family illness. she turned out to be a bombay, She was the most loving and playful cat i have ever seen,, gee all these later and still miss her

No she hasn't been to the vet yet. I have been asking around about which vet clinic to go to (there are 4 in the area) to get her spayed. I have had a few people tell me which places not to go to, so I hope I'll be able to make my decision this week and get it done as soon as possible. The previous owners say that she is 7 months.

Ahh I missed you mention her age in the first post, sorry.

There are black cats in every breed, but if you are talking that the only color that a breed comes in, it would be the bombay. Bombay's are crosses between a burmese and a black american shorthair.
