Is there a way to help increase Icis's milk supply? the babies are now 17 days old, and they seem to eat less, and when they do eat, they seem to be franticly kneading her, as if there not getting much. is there anything i can do to help her? i tried the KMR milk, but she hates it. she had access to wet food and dry anytime she wants it, but doesnt eat much.

Try a little gently-warmed goat's milk, some chicken or turkey meat-only human babyfood, pour a little warmed goat's milk over her dry food and swish that around til it's mushy -- do you have her eating kitten food at the moment? You could also give her a little treat of some unflavored yogurt if she tolerates diary well. If you don't know is she tolerates diary well, don't give her a lot or you may end up causing a major bout of diarrhea in your little Mommy-girl.

At going-on three weeks old, your little guys are becoming more demanding of her milk, as you have noticed. Are you feeding your girl in the same room where the kittens can watch her eat? She may begin showing them solid foods now if they are taxing her, especially if you offer her a little warmed babyfood.

yes, she is eating in the same room as the babies are in. she gets wet food 2x a day, morning and night, and dry food during the day when i am at work. i will try the babyfood. she liked it before. yes, she is on kitten formula, has been never got the chance to switch her to adult. its Nutro Complete Kitten. i dont think she is showing them food yet, as they cant really walk/ stand well, there still more like lil drunks, lol. could i try to give them the KMR 2nd stage yet, or is it to early?

I second this, marshmellow root does help with milk supply.

You know I helped raise Hope and Meeka with their mom when they were pretty young. They did the same thing. Hope quickly learned a way to avoid the water up the nose thing. She now puts her paw in the water dish until she feels where the water level is. She might even double check a couple times. Our cat Autumn licks the side of the dish until she gets to the right level of water. BUT Meeka still does the head dunk thing! Its hilarious that an adult kitty still has to sneeze out the water from going to far in.

My big old beefy guy Tonka still does the head dunk thing too - he looks like he is bobbing for apples! I put a little plastic duck in the water dish - it floats - and he bats it around but always leaves it right in the water. He will still stick his head in to the water, but not as much as before the Duck went in.
