I feel so bad for this kitty at our shelter. She came to us 4 weeks ago with kittens that were 3 to 4 weeks old. I was looking at her yesterday & felt her belly and with my limited experinece I'm afraid she's pregnant again (poor thing!!!) We've been giving her extra wet food & feeding her kitten food, but I just know if she's pregnant again it would be bad for her. So my question is would a female cat with kittens 3 or 4 weeks old really be able to get pregnant again? She was a stray living in an old garage that eventually got torn down. I'm just hoping that I'm wrong and she is not pregnant, but she has been sleeping & eating a lot since she came to us. She's such a sweet cat I hope she'll be OK.

Unfortunatley cats can get pregnant almost immediately after having kittens. So it sounds like htere is a good chance she is pregnant again. Can you spay her now before it gets to far?

I used to help my mom with her strays and I trapped one to take her to get fixed. When they went to fix her, she was pregnant with 9 kittens. It was a shelter record, btw. It was early enough that they aborted the babies. I know that sounds terrible, but it can be for the best.

I hope everything works out for you.

Yes they unfortunatley can get pregnant again almost immediately after having babies. If it was a few months later that would be one thing but if her current kittens are only 7 or 8 weeks old, I would really get her spayed now before they get too old. It can be really dangerous and the last thing a shelter needs is more kittens.

I read in a book about cats that in fact females can carry two different litters at the same time, that arent the same age. That is she can get pregnant and while pregnant, go in heat and get pregnant with a whole other litter, that will be born later then the first. Just amazing how fertile those cats are!!!....

I have a cat she just had her kittens the other day and she's still feels like there is kittens in her belly they are still moving I was wondering if that's possible she doesn't seem to be uncomfortable or in any pain the kittens that were born we're healthy other than losing only one that was born undeveloped

She may deliver another kitten or two in the next few days if she is really still pregnant. They may have been conceived later on in the week that she was in heat.
