My Mom has an outside cat named Jynx that we've had for about 3 years. Mom just informed me that she is moving in with her new boyfriend this week
and that she can't take Jynx with her because there are too many dogs where he lives that would kill her. Jynx is a wonderful cat, a black manx, very tiny with a huge attitude. She loves people but is terribly unhappy in the house. I would love to take her, as I love her very much, but there are a lot of coyotes where I am and I'm afraid something would happen to her. Mom dosen't know what to do with her. Our local humane society is full of cats right now, and I'm not sure that she would pass the test for adoption after being locked in a tiny cage. If anyone is anywhere near me and could accomadate this sweet girl please let me know!! I wish I had more time to figure something out, but I was given little notice. I'm afraid mom is just going to leave her there, and I don't know what to do. I'm willing to meet someone somewhere as long as its not too far, or maybe we could set up a train somehow. Thank you all so much. If nothing else, could you send some vibes for this little girl?? Thanks again!

I doubt you could get her a passport, and the cost would probably break you to send her to me.

All I can do is pray and offer you my good wishes.

If it comes to it, what about shelters in the next few towns away?

Could you build a shelter at your home to keep her in until you find a home for her? Poor kitty...or maybe one of your Mom's neighbors will take over her care until you can find a better situation.

And Satai...you are always so generous about taking kitties...if I end up with any more that I can't get adopted out, I'm taking a trip to Ireland, and bringing you a pile of kitties!

Sending lots & lots of {{{prayers and vibes}}} that Jynx finds a new family
Or maybe you could build a shelter, like Becki suggested. Manx kitties are usu. very popular! i know that yahoo has a forum called "Manx cuties" maybe you could post there in ManxalotRescue. Or maybe you could call PAWS in Paragould, AR and ask them for some ideas. Here's hoping that TCS board magic works for Jynx

One of the problems is that Ireland is rabies-free, so a bit of ground work has to be laid like six months in advance before bringing pets to Ireland from most of the world. Just so you know...

Update: I'd been looking for Jynx at my moms house the past couple of days and couldn't find her anywhere! I thought for sure she was long gone. Today I caught one of moms neighbors outside and asked if she had seen her, and she had! She has two outside cats and Jynx has taken up residence in her backyard with her cats!! The lady has fallen in love with her, and asked if she could keep her, and after a bit of thought I decided it would be the best thing! The lady loves her, Jynx seems very happy there and it is familiar territory to her!!

A happy ending if you ask me! And the best part?? I can go visit anytime I want!!

I didn't read this thread when it was first posted. I would have taken her on in a heartbeat. We have a fenced in backyard and our only wildlife is deer. You and your DH could have met me in Fayetteville on one of his trips to Ft. Smith.

I appriciate the kind offer annasmom...maybe if for some reason things don't work out with mom's neighbor, I might take you up on it. I really appriciate the thought! Thank you so much!

That's fantastic that she's found a new "home" right in her old neighborhood. It really is the best solution. She's in a territory that she's familiar with, cats that she probably knew already, and a new caretaker who loves her!
