Will Mel Gibson's arrest for alleged DUI hurt his career? - Page 2

Ok Here is my 2 cents! Since when is what the rich and famous say so important? I could care less what Mel Gibson, or any other famous person thought about anything really. I just hate to see that the American public is so up in arms about what one person thinks. Yes I do believe he is dead wrong. And I understand the Jewish of the world boycotting anything that he does (after all we did that to the Dixie Chicks when the slammed Bush on foreign soil) and I don't blame them for that. But Should this be in the media like it is? No. Who cares if he was going to do a series on the holocaust and he doesn't believe in it? Does that make him a hypocrite (spelling I know)? Yes. Does it really effect what is going on in the world today? Does it help solve world hunger? Is it helping us through the war on Terror? No. He will only feel what he doesn't get, like our money from the box office. Complaining about it and all the media attention is only helping him gain money, more fame, etc. So if you don't like what he says or does, do buy or watch what he does. Don't support him period. I really think there are more important things for the American public to be thinking and talking about! I will get off my soap box now!

I don't thin so. He's generally well liked by most people. I was shocked to hear that he has a drinking problem.

That is pretty much exactly what I was saying. Too much attention. Live your life for you!

Oh...I DO think the media has made way TOO much of this. It's everywhere. You can't get away from it. But then when hasn't the media taken a story waaaay beyond it's limit? It's on the network news. It's on the local news. It's on the front pages of the newspaper. It's on all of the internet sites in their news headlines. It's EVERYWHERE you look. I'm actually getting sick and tired of seeing his face, his mug shot and video clips of him.

As far as caring what he thinks and says: I don't care what he thinks or believes anymore than I do the next person on this earth. I don't care if it was Mel Gibson or a Co-worker who said that, I would look at that in a totally different light. I have a co-worker who is constantly saying to me, "So Hope, when are you people going to get out of Lebonon? You know you're the most hated people on the face of the earth, so you need to get out, because you will only make people hate you more." He says that to me, because I'm Jewish, although I'm an American, and not an Israeli. I am equally offended by my co-workers attitude as I am by Mel Gibson or any other Anti-Semite.

The probablem with someone like Mel Gibson spouting off his words of hate, is that due to his celebrity, he does have an influence over a lot of people who think of him as a God. His words were very dangerous words, let us all not forget that. They were words of Hate and intollerance, and they could easily incite more Anti-Semitism, which in turn could cause harm to innocent people.

Now, if only the media wouldn't keep harping on this bloody story, maybe it could end before too much damage was done, but that is not the media's style.
