First time poster here I am the proud "parent" of a 10 week old brown tabby. She is absolutely wonderful and so far she seems to be enjoying her new home. She only went to the bathroom not in her litterbox once and that was the day I brought her home and only happened once. She now goes in her box everytime. The only problem I am having is that when she pee's she doesnt always squat and even though she is in her litterbox its basically going straight out on the wall. Im not exactly thrilled about this. lol The weird thing is sometimes she sqauts all the way down and does perfectly while other times she practicaly stands straight up. A couple friends who own cats are just telling me its because she is so young and that she will learn over time. Has anyone experienced this before and is this normal or is there something I can be doing to make her sqaut so I dont have to keep cleaning my wall and floor

And just incase someone asks I keep her box perfectly clean and dont use any special litter that I was told cats dont seem to like.

Thanks a lot,
JT
P.S. here is a pic of her

She's a baby - they don't always make it to the box, and when they're there they don't always do it neatly!

Sounds like she's trying though, and understands what the box is for. That's a good 95% of the battle right there. She'll learn in time - I don't think there is much you can do except clean her oopsies with an enezmye cleaner so she doesn't know where she's been out of the box (that can be a problem sometimes).

She is adorable - welcome to TCS!

I hope you both stick around.

She is so cute!!

I would try a covered litter box and just take off the swinging door so she does not feel closed in. That way if she misses at least she is peeing on the wall of the litter box and not the house.

Sebastian seems to like to go as close to the back of the box as possible and I think if I did not have a covered box it would be all over the wall as well!

Thanks for the quick replies its nice to see a site that actually has activity. I figured she was doing her best and might just take some time for her to learn.

Well first of all she is very very cute! A covered box would help with this problem but you should definitely take off the door so she doesn't feel so confined.

What a cutie!!!

My youngest cat is 7 years old and she hates getting her paws dirty so it's a giggle to watch her using the litter box. She gets in and goes to the opposite end and perches on the corner with 3 legs while standing on tippy toes on one. It's hysterical!
Sometimes though she gets in and forgets to turn around and she goes outside the box. I have a plastic mat under the pan to catch her mishaps. My oldest cat is 14 1/2 years old and she's what I call an "edger" and likes to pee along the edge of the pan instead of in the centre of it, so sometimes she doesn't squat low enough and she too goes outside the box,
But I still love them
