I think I'm dying..

At our house, we've always said things like, "Just think of all the people that don't have air conditioning on days like today!" and well.. now our air isn't working.. and I'm about to die. I have a huge glass of iced water, and I'm trying to stay cool.. and it's not working very well. I feel sorry for the animals, and especially Clover with her long hair. She keeps giving me these pathetic little meows like she's hot and thirsty, but she doesn't want the water I give her. Pleeease wish us luck in getting the air fixed soon. I'm sweating just sitting here at the computer.

Oh man! Good luck with that one. I couldnt stand it.
You aren't going to die though..so that's good enough news right?
many wishes you get it fixed asap.

YIKES! I couldn't even IMAGINE it! I'd be paying overtime getting that fixed! Poor thing! I wish you rain and cool breezes!

I can feel for you! We don't have air conditioning either, and there is a heat warning until Tuesday night! I put ice in the pets water bowl several times a day. We also have lots of fans blowing all the time. I have a small one blowing right on me as I sit at the desk..I aim it past my iced drink so it cools me off a little.

Try freezing an empty pop bottle filled with water, then you can lay it on the floor for the kitty to lay beside to cool off!

Thanks guys.. my stepdad just came back, so the parents are looking at it. Hopefully this means it'll be cool again really soon.

Definitely good news! Knowing the air is coming right back would make it perfect news.

I dont have air conditioning, its humid and hot here.

We don't have air here either...We do have a window unit, but I'm not strong enough to be the second person to lift it.
Cats are pretty adaptle. The first hotter day we had I placed a bunch of ice cubes in a frying pan and put it in front of a fan for the time we were both at work.
Whitey and Luna were really fascinated by the ice cubes. Whitey is the only that appears to be "suffering" but he's sleeping right now with his back paws pressed against a cool wall. Yesterday they were against my file cabinet (which is metal). He hangs out by the fridge...we have a bottom drawer freezer...and I'm pretty sure he's figured that out.

For the last couple of weeks we have been having the heat wave to beat all heat waves in California. For the last couple of days the weather is more normal and more on the pleasant side.

Anyway, I don't have an air conditioner, at all. It was miserable for me, and my babies, but somehow we made it through. My suggestion, draw the drapes or better yet, close the blinds if you have them. Get some nice big fans and sit in front of them. That's what I did. The worst part for me, was trying to sleep in the extreme heat during the day, because I work graveyard shift, and waking up soaked, and sleeping on wet pillows from all of my sweating.

No A/c for us either. Its humid outside with the rain but much cooler that orginally predicted. One adapts!! Grizzly stays in the basement, bakker lays on the tile floor, the heat doesn't seem to really bother Ox which is odd as his is really long hiared and old!! Bobbs sprawls out on the bed.
The next couple of days are going to be challenging though....

I don't see how you guys that don't have a/c can stand it. We still haven't had any luck, and I'm about to see if I can get ahold of my dad, since he used to (not sure if he still does) fix heaters/air conditioners, and the people we've been calling either aren't around a phone, or want to charge us a lot of money just to come over, without knowing if they'll be able to fix it. Ugh, I'm going crazyyy..

It is pretty bad this weekend...and no break in site until Tuesday night! Take a cool shower, go see a movie, eat some frozen treats.

Of! Been there. I would do what hope suggested. We have even put dark colored towels over the windows to block out heat on the windows that don't have full curtains. Hope it gets fixed real soon!

I feel you pain! Freshman year, I lived in a dorm without AC. Despite a fan blowing directly on me and being completely naked, there was nothing I could do to get cool. I started going to the library for all my waking hours. Maybe ou should take a trip to Petco or Petsmart with your cats and just loiter in the AC all day!

I don't see how people w/o air can make it.. I'm so sorry and hope you get it fixed...

I thank god everyday that my dad is an a/c tech

Thanks for the wishes/vibes everyone.. the air is on and the house is cool again.. ! I suggested going out to be in a cool place, but no one wanted to.. so I took a cold bath, and dyed my hair.. It feels so much better, but something unfortunate did happen because of it.. my stepbrother's hamster died, because he's irresponsible and didn't listen to his dad when he told him to put him in the cage, and he was in his ball too long and (we're guessing) got dehydrated (thread).

I don't have air conditioning period. What we do is keep the ceilling fans on and get box fans, put them near the window and set it on high. It helps a bit.... but don't forget to turn them off during the day... then it's 10 times hotter inside then out.

We only have air in the bedroom. I am actually taking off of work early the next 2 days(I work in air...) so I can try to keep the crittters as cool as possible. I cannot wait for the cold front!!!!!!!

I would seriously die without my central air it's so hot here in KY I don't even want to go out to get the mail. When my husband calls on the way home from work he says do I have to get the mail. I have never been able to take the heat when I was a little girl I used to sleep under the bed near my air conditioning vent.

You poor girl...try to take a cool shower that might help or come here with me HE HE !!!!

It's nice and in here!!!

I have a vent right next to my bed, so I was nice and cool all night. Right now, I feel totally opposite of yesterday.. my hands feel like ice! But I guess I'd rather be a little chilly than sweating like I was yesterday.

And I feel bad keeping the air set at 75 during the day... I turn it down to 70 while we are home, but keep it at 75 while we're at work...and I use the energy saver function, so it turns off until the temp goes above 75, then it kicks on again. I wonder if LuckyGirl is too hot while I'm gone. But I do keep all the blinds closed (except her window to look out), so that the sun doesn't make it more hot for her. If we didn't have air, I'd probably wet her down a few times a day... she might hate me for a few weeks, but at least she'd be cool.

Hope you get the Air Con back really soon and pat down Clover with a wet towel - might help her with the heat!!

Last night, a few hours after the air was working again and the house was still a little warm, Clover climbed into the spa bath and just sat there, so I tuned the cool water on a little, and she just sat there and let her feet and tail get wet.. I thought it was cute..
