For a long time we have noticed that there was always water around our cats water bowls but always thought our kids were spilling it when they filled it up.
Today i watched one of them go up to the water bowl and knock it with his paw like to tip it over to splash water onto the floor. Then he sat and drank it off the floor instead of the bowl. How do i stop that???
The bowl is ceramic and very heavy so he cant tip it but he knows how to splash the water out. Kind of cute but not when u walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night and your foot gets wet with 3 kids not even wanting to guess whats wet on the bathroom floor lol.
Not even sure why he would rather drink it off the bathroom floor anyway.
He is also the cat that everytime i take a bath he comes running to drink my bath water. SO maybe he prefers dirty water lol?

Maybe he likes moving water or water in little puddles as opposed to a bowl? He might like one of those drinking water fountains.

My parents' cat Scooter liked to lick condensation off the windows. He was a in heaven in winter!

A friend if mine's two cats do the same thing. He "fixed" the problem by putting down a cookie sheet with a lip around the edge.

We tried the water fountain well one from walmart and it burnt out after 2 weeks stopped working the cookie sheet is a good idea.
He does like very fresh water since his fav thing is drinking my bath water although i take very hot baths and im surprised he hasnt burnt his tongue lol.

Dino does the very same thing !! our cure was to put the water bowl on a folded tea-towel, so any splashed water gets soaked up !!

Now he just uses his paws, dips them in, then licks his paws, awh, cute really and a lot safer !!

You know, all cats are basically very selfish creatures (big surprise :0)), and just because Pixel's having a hard time adjusting right now doesn't mean you should give up the babies. I wouldn't get that stressed about it all because tomorrow could be very different. As long as you continue to give Pixel lots of attention, don't encourage too much proximity with the new ones in Pixel's territory yet, things should be fine.
