My parents recently returned from a trip to Italy, and my dad brought back a small can of food for the kitties. It's Purina, but obviously the Purina distributed in Italy. It's rabbit flavored. Anyway, I clearly will not be feeding this to Nedicks, as the vet has put her on prescription food for her urinary issues, but is it okay to give Nathan a little as a treat? I haven't done it yet, because I was thinking that since it is not a type of food he is used to, it might upset his tummy. What do you think?

It might. Try a teeny bit- for all you know he won't even eat it if it is gamey tasting.

If you can read the ingredients, make sure there is nothing he is allergic to etc, but its a mainstream food so it should be fine as a treat. It really depends how he usually handles a new food

He doesn't have any food allergies, and he usually has no problem with new foods. But I'm not crazy about the fact that I can't actually read what's in it. Maybe I'll just let it be. There's no point in giving him an upset tummy for no reason.

Unless he has a history of trouble with food changes, I really can't see any reason why not.

most european countries have a lot healthier pet foods and higher standards and stuff than USA, i dont think you need to worry about whats in it. but if you re uncomfortable with it, its not worth it.

I think it's probably ok to give a small amount like a tablespoon or so. Does it come in the tiny 3 ounce cans?

Since kitty is not used to rabbit, I'd only give a teaspoon and see if the cats likes it, if he's ok with it and doesn't get tummy upset.

He may not even like it! I never fed my rex kittens fish, and many of them refused to eat fish of any kind when grown up.
