It's rarely done, and only to female iguanas in danger of becoming egg bound, at least as far as pet lizard spays go.
Most species will not readily breed in captivity anyway.
I suppose you can if you can find a vet that specializes in reptiles; but why would you want to do it? I've had turtles (box) and a few various lizards/snakes and none of them were spayed/neutered.
In fact, I also had rabbits and neither were spayed/neutered!
Lizards can be spayed/neutered. Any type of lizard can be, just it is very uncommon unless the animal has medical problems from their reproduction organs. Iguanas are more prone to become egg bound, so surgery is done to remove the eggs and at the same time spay her. KITTYLOVA what type of reptile is your husband looking into? I've been keeping reptiles pretty much my whole life and the best one I could ever recommend is a bearded dragon. I have a lot of knowledge on them so if you have any questions feel free to drop me a PM and i'll help you the best i can.
