I was bored, so I sought out to create a very potent catnip. Now, all I am doing is extracting the Nepetalactone from the actual catnip plant. Anyways, I was curious if anyone knew if nepetalctone is thermally stable? I would not want to go through the trouble of seperation if it chemically brokedown when exposed to high heat.

I want to bind the chemical to a more airborne friendly carrier; possibly, to create a catnip mist or something of that nature. If I bind it to a less soluble substance that transfers to the a cat's vomeronasal organ more easily, it might enhance the effects and/or duration. I'm becoming giddy thinking about the possibility.
Why don't you check out the ingredients on a can of catnip extract spray and see what they use?

I called my Dad and asked (the first love of his life was chemistry) he says that is should be, but he isn't really sure. I'm sorry that I don't have more information.
