So we have two inside cats (female spayed) that have gotten along great. Cat A got out a few nights ago and got into a fight. We found her within ten minutes and brought her inside. Ever since then cat B does not want anything to do with cat A. She hisses and growls constantly at her. Cat B is the older one while cat A is the docile one. Any ideas what caused this sudden change in behavior and what we can do to get them to be friends again??

It looks like you may have to reintroduce them. What I'd do is follow the steps like you just got cat B, and take if forward from there. Also, you may want to take cat A to the vet to see if there was any dammage from the fight.

Sometimes when cats fight one might spray during the fight.... if this has happened then your cat that was in the fight smells like a stranger.... in fact you cat just from being outside will smell different to your other cats. your cat may have rubbed up on the markings of other cats etc.

unlike humans cats recognise each other much more on body scent than on how they look.

i would suggest that if you can bathe both of them in the same shampoo that will neutralise their smells.... then for the cat that was in the fight after drying him or her you can rub the cat with some of the other cats bedding or maybe some of your own un washed clothes - this way the cat will smell more like how he or she used to smell....

Just dab some vanilla extract on their chins, base of tails and shoulder blades, so they smell the same (shampooing is a hassle if they're otherwise clean).
