Not sure if this is the right place for this..
But with about 10 trips to the vets, within a month..I was asked several times these questions, didnt know the answers, then got sidetracked to even ask for the answers,,
Here are my questions, What is Squiggles considered as far as coloring??
She is the white tabby?? And is it ok that her 5 month old "black" Squeeky is an inch short of her own size already???

Thirdly..What is Bella..A calico?? Wasnt sure because her orange is actually "tabbyish"
Also what does is look like as far as length, medium??
Lastly is my garfield.."orange" he looks shorthair on the top, yet his legs, tummy, etc..are medium to long hair if you can see it in the pic of him with bella..Plus Ive been hearing about this red tabby, so what is he??

Thanks to anyone who helps, I sit in the vets, filling out the form, and would like to sound professional to some degree , specially when its something so easy..

1) She's a black mackerel tabby and white bicolor

2) Cat sizes are like human sizes and very individual, I wouldn't be concerned

3) I would call her a calico, or a patched tabby. I'd consider her a shorthair as her hair is not long enough to be medium or long.

4) Red tabby includes red, orange (ginger), buff, cream and fawn, so yes, he is a red mackerel tabby.

Just gets so confusing...I hear reds, then oranges, and squiggles was the hardest..my answer was always white with tabby spots

Thanks again

Showing cats and being a HHP cat show judge, there is NO such thing as a "black tabby".

She would correctly be a brown tabby with white - brown tabbys range from a black-brown color to the warmer reddish brown (and every shade in between).

The other is a calico - she's not a patched tabby because from the picture only the red color has tabby stripes which is typical of the red color - almost all red will show tabby markings. The black has no striping. If she was a patched tabby - the black-brown color would have tabby markings and she would be called a "brown patched tabby".

The boy IS a very nice red mackeral tabby.

interesting interesting..
Thanks very much..
I was calling her a calico, but then some people confused me when they had other pictures of their own up..she sure does look like patchwork, but Ive always referred to her as my little calico..
The tabby in her orange is more and more apparent everyday..

If the black has striping, is that when it is called a Torbie? Is Torbie a technical colour term or is that just something that people say?

It depends on the association. I feel that "torbie" is different then "patched tabby".

Its a fine line thing...lol Torbie is a tortoiseshell cat that has striping. A patched tabby is a brown or blue tabby cat that has the addition of red. You would not have a "black" tabby, so the only colors of patched tabby would be brown patched or blue patched.

The calico could be considered a torbie and white in some associations as the red has pretty deep stripes, but I'd call it a calico. Calicos usually have less of a striping effect then what your kitty has....like I said, its a fine line.

If you get a good example of all three colors (I'll try to find some examples later) then you can compare.
