My 6 month old male kitten, Ben, has been doing the strangest thing I have ever seen.
He will actually nurse on his own nipples, purring, kneading his paws etc!
I have NEVEr seen a cat do this. LOL
Have any of you?

Well, at least he's happy - just keep an eye on the nipples for irritation - I wouldn't worry about it otherwise.

I have never seen a cat nurse on themselves, but my kitty Pepper always tries to suck on me, and if he's not doing that, he's sucking on a blanket. lol

My 7 month old does the same thing. He's LOUD and wakes up early in the a.m..  Even his big brother (the dog), gets off his bed and moves to another corner when my kitty wants to lay next to him.  The noise is obnoxious. He does it mostly when he's relaxed, as a child would do sucking his thumb, however there are instances where he'll nurse at my daughter's house too.  She has 3 cats and a dog. In that case, it's probably stress that drives him.  Then, another incident was at the vet's office.

So far, he hasn't broken any skin, but then again, he's only 7 months.  I briefly thought of using a deterrent like Bitter Apple, however I read that once the taste gets inside the mouth, it's extremely difficult to get rid of it.  How would that effect him with food? Grooming?  I have reservations about this.  HEEEELLLLP!
