I have a question for those of you who have cat towers for your cats. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m almost ready to start building my cat tower and thought about this. If you have a tower that has about 3 or 4 levels, and the levels are all in line with one another….can your cat get from one level to another with ease or is it difficult? Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m hoping that you understand what I mean when I say all in line with one another…..imagine 2 square boards which are the same size that you stack one on top the other…lift the top board about 3 feet and put 2 posts between them. Those 2 boards are in line with one another. On the other hand, you can lift the top board, rotate it 45 degrees, and put 2 posts between them. Those 2 boards would not be in line with one another. I've never seen cats actually climbing around on a cat tower, so I don't see how they can go from one level to the next when the boards are in line with one another.

Some of my levels are staggered and some are not.

I kind of like that it is difficult for them to navigate some of the areas of the trees. If it is more of a climbing struggle for them then it is more exercise when they do it

Sometimes they climb up slowly and gracefully, sometimes they hit it at 99mph and fall off. I'd give them a choice, with most of the levels staggered. As long as the surface is covered with something they can sink their nails into it will be ok.

My cats tower has 3 tiers(sp) and they have no problem but I have seen some that arent straight up and down and one thing would be to the side of it.
We got ours from angelicalcat.com

If they are in line with each other, you'll need to cut a hole in them for them to have easier access. Why not criss-cross the shelves?

Does anyone here have a cat tower that has a hole in it for a cat to get from one level to another? If so, what is the diameter of that hole?

Mine is more of a rectangle it's 6 inches long and 5 1/2 wide.
