I got the exam results today and I asked for a copy. The result for Phenobarbital its 8.6 which is in the sub-therapeutic level, and the sub-therapeutic level is <= 10 and the unit is ug/mL. I was looking at the copy and something that I wasnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t explained is the ANTON GAP, and itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s High 34, it should be between 13-27, the unit is mEq/L. I will ask the vet tomorrow but I was wondering if one of you know what this ANTOM GAP mean.

Hi!
How is Andy? I was reading about the Pheno levels being sub theraputic, does that mean he has been having seizures again? The Anion Gap is really only one of those things that the doctors understand and from what I know it really is not a big deal, so don't worry about it. How long has he been on Pheno. and have you talked to yor vet about switching to Clonazipam instead-it is safer for kitties and does not require any yearly bloodwork to test for levels. I have Squeeker on it now and it is working great!!! It has seriously made a HUGE difference in our lives, we are taking him back to the neurologist the end of Aug. and I will let you know what they say, Hopefullt this finds you and Andy seizure free and let me know how he is doing.

He is fine thank you. Andy is in a sub-therapeutic level and heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not having any seizures. I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t know exactly what that does suppose to mean. I thought about lowering the dose, the vet told me that I could try if I wanted to. So I took like ¼ out of the capsule last night, and he looks ok, for now, Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m going to try ¼ less for 10 days. Yes, thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s exactly what the vet told me about the Anion Gap, thank you. Heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s been on Pheno for like 44 days. And no, I havenâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t talk to the vet about Clonazipam, sounds very good, but first Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll look more into it because the vet doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have experience with seizures, but Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll ask her about this medication. I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t know how to find a good vet here in Houston. And yes, please, keep me updated on Squeeker. I'm glad he's doing fine.
Thank you and good luck with everything.

Glad to hear you are seizure free for now-if you need a good vet try getting on the AVMA website and they should be able to recommend a vet in your area-AVMA is a really good website to try-if there is one in your area-try and see a veterianary neurologist-they will definatly know what Clonazipam is.
