I was reading somewhere online tonight about cats in labor and it said that alot of them will yowl or cry.
Has anyone here had that happen?

A few of my queens will yowl a big one right before the baby pops out.....otherwise they are purring up a storm.....hard to believe they would at a time like that. It was a big clue to me when the next baby was coming.

Lex is pretty quiet during delivery - it is the several hours leading up to it that she makes a huge fuss and ruckous about it! She will purr too, but it is my understanding that cats will purr when in pain as a comfort mechanism so that would make sense.

I was kind of hoping that she would cry (that doesn't sound right!) BEFORE she pops them out! If she cries at all!
I have been up and down the past few nights because all the animals thought the middle of the night was the best time to play! I want something DEFINITE to listen for!!!!

I do not want to wake up and find that she has squeezed herself into the closet or something, to have these kittens!

I'm amazed that cats (dogs) don't cry out more then they do - I KNOW it has to hurt!

The only time any of my females made a sound was when one kitten's sac broke before the kitten was born and it was a "dry" birth. Mom had a tough time with it and she actually cried out in pain AND wound up biting my arm. Otherwise she delivered all kittens without making a sound.
