Harley is a big kitty, just over 10lbs - very very solid cat. All the toys we have, are for little kitties (Davidson size) from when he was little. Everytime I go look at toys anywhere, they seem too flimsy, and I don't want them to break, or anything like that if he were to play with them.

We are going to be purchasing a cat tree soon, one thats big and solid enough to hold him, and Davidson. As I feel as tho Davidson is going to be as big as Harley - his paws show it!

Those of you with bigger/solid cats, what kind of toys do you have for your bundles of fluff?

I want to keep him active and have plenty of toys for him to play with. Right now the best toy we have for him, is Davidson

Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated!

My MIL makes toys for all of her gandkitties.
Usually sturdy, pillowy things stuffed with homegrown catnip buds.

Lemmee see. Those plastic jingly balls never seem to break unless we step on em. We also have a round turbo scratcher, and a big piece of cat furniture with several posts. Rocky hasn't managed to tip that. BTW Rocky is 14 lbs, zakk is 9.5. I'm not sure about Cookie.. he hasn't been weighed at the vet for awhile. He is def bigger than zakk but not quite as bulked out yet. I have some pretty sturdy dangly toys from petsmart too.

Chip's favorite toy is a cottonknit catnip-filled bag i made for him from a rag. he's chewed a couple of small holes in it, but it was pretty cheap!

Thank you for your speedy responses!

I get paid on Monday, so I'm going to go to Petsmart and get some new fun toys for the boys - and its always nice to have imput from you guys!

Aren't big 'ol kitties the best? I just LOVE cuddling up with all of Harley's 10lb + fluff

I've always recommended the Hot Cats Deluxe for a big cat - it's 4 links long, made of sturdy denim twill and has 1-1/2 cups of catnip in it.

And I recently tried something different with one of our kitties who while he has these tiny little paws, is built like a bulldog (he's an apparent japanese bobtail) and loves to rabbit kick his toys. I tried him with a Doggy Hoots Catfish scented with catnip...he loves the squeeker, the crinkly sound and wrestling with it

If you go to petsmart and you are looking for the dangly toys. Look for the one that has a white wand with red rubber thingys on the tip. The string is a strong yellow woven cord. They have a few different creatures at the end. My cats have not managed to destroy one yet, and it is about 5 bucks at the most.

I have shoe strings attached to an arm of a chair, but I only tie them up when I'm home, I'm always afraid something will happen with them when I'm gone

All these responses are amazing and SO helpful!

Sometimes I wonder how something so simple can entertain them for hours - like a shoe string!

I don't know if Harley is interested in sparkly shiny things like my big boy is (Trent is pushing 17 pounds, and not fat just a big boy), but those little 1-2" sparkle poms that you can get in the craft section of Wal Mart (or anywhere) are his favorite. They sell them at Petsmart and Petco for like 4 balls for $4, but in the craft section you can get the same balls for 12 balls for $2!

Here's when we found Trent's stash of balls...

Harley loves any kind of balls - I'm going to have to make a run to WalMart I think!

My little sugar momma Jasmine is a big girl! (we adopted her that way and she just can't seem to loose weight, she was given the all clear by the vet ). Anyways, my big boned kitty lol, loves "Da Bird"- as a matter of fact, ALL of my kitties love it. I just don't leave it out when i'm gone- otherwise, the feathers would be gone. If Harley is anything like Jasmine, watch him around computer wires, etc....Jasmine will eat Anything that won't eat her first! She also likes playing in boxes, paper bags, big stuffed cloth mice, those balls with the bells in them, and her favorite is sparkle pom balls- they come in all sizes, so you can find the right size for your little guys.

Those are the same ones my Jasmine loves!!! She carries them all around the house, while growling at them, and strategically places them in all of their food and water bowls (she's a little weido lol). She loves them! I buy several packs at a time from wal-mart.
I bet Jasmine and Trent would love each other

If you go to wal-mart, those sparkly pom balls are in the Arts & Crafts section near all of the fabric and such

OMG Trent puts his balls in his food bowl too! He used to put them in the water, too, but finally figured out that he couldn't get them back out without getting wet.

I'm waiting to find his current stash since we're in the process of moving. I cleaned under the fridge and found about 20. I haven't bought balls in a long time because we just go looking for his stash when we can't find any laying around!
