I was just talking with a friend about this big red spot on my cheek. It;s been there since Monday. My friend said it sounds kind of like a spider bite. It doesn't itch or hurt. I thought at first I had broken out. I tried hot packs but nothing drew out. My glands in my neck to my ear are swollen and really tender on that side. I'm baffled. I'm gonna go look for some pics online but I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone has any ideas.

(I'm doing a clickable thumbnail because the pic is kinda big.)

Thanks!

Ouch!, I know you said it doesn't hurt, but it looks like it should!

Do you have blackflies in your area?, they usually bite around your neck or hairline (at least that's where they bite me) and they can cause your glands to swell.

You'll have to keep a really close eye on it and if it gets even a little bit worse get to the doctor!

Hmmm...we do have black flies around here. I really don't remember feeling like I got bit by anything. I have sensitive skin and my mom is now sick (I work with her). So thoes could be explanations. It's been this way for 3 days now so I'm hoping it will just go away!

Usually spider bites are accompanied by boils- if so they're painful! I have the scares from multiple brown recluse bites. So since you said it doesn't hurt, i wouldn't assume it's a spider bite. However, to be on the safe side, get it checked out by a doctor!

Deffinately no pain with it. It is swolen looking/feeling and I can feel some heat coming off it. But no pain or itching either.

I would see a doctor in the morning just to be on the safe side.
Keep us posted and let us know what you find out.

Well this morning on my way to work I noticed that I am missing some feeling in quite a large area of my face around the bite. Like almost to my eye and down to the bottom of my ear and over half way to my mouth. So that did it. I called the dr.

I went this afternoon. It's deffinately a bite of some kind. She didn't really say what type she suspected. She told me to keep hot packs on it. She also gave me an antibiotic for the infection. I'm not sure whether that is related to the bite or not.

I saw you said you have contacts but do you wear glasses? Or did you have glasses on a little before you started with this? It is extreamly hot over here and my glasses did the same thing to my face in the same location as yours. It turned out I got a infection from the leg of my glasses from the sweat on them. Just a idea to run by you!

If it's not that, I gaurentee it's a spider bite. I've been bitten enough times to know what they look like.

It is some kind of bite. My Dr didn't really speculate as to what kind of spider. It's starting to peel now and is less red, but I still havn't regained much of the feeling I've been missing. Every now and then it hurts, so maybe thats why I didn't feel it before. Maybe that means the feeling is coming back.

Hope you're feeling better. Gosh, that sounds nasty. I'm glad you went to the doctor about it.
