i will be getting an 8 1/2 month old kitty on friday. i dont know her vaccination history at this time but im looking for input on if any vaccines are absolutely necessary for an indoor cat? i really want to avoid all unnecessary vaccines because i believe over-vaccinating cause lots of health problems. thanks

We recommend only the FVRCP and Rabies for indoor cats. FVRCP covers 3 different viruses: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia. Once the cat has been established, we give it every 3 years instead of annually. The Rabies vaccine that we use is a non-adjuvented feline only vaccine and it is given every year.

If she is inside only, she wouldn't need the Feline Leukemia vaccination, and I wouldn't recommend the FIV or FIP vaccines regardless.

Hope this helps!

I got Zoey at about 8 months ... I did the complete kitten series and the one yr booster ... Zoey will only get a rabies shot here on out unless law dictates( I live where cats dont have to have evan rabies) ... My vet agrees with this plan
