I hate those awful comments that people make about cats! I can't believe how many of them are for hunting and killing them! I do have to ask though, who does pay for all the TNR cats to be TNR'ed? It wouldn't really be right for the tax payers to would it? A lot of individuals cannot afford it either. So who does pay for it? Or do the vets do it for free in the case of ferals?

Alot of those people are just being jerks, I hope... Like the guy who says he runs over cats and shoots them but then that he keeps his cat inside. What a bunch of idiots!
I'm not gonna bother posting a comment because the article says most of the facts I would, and obviously the majority of people leaving comments have no sense or ability to listen to reason.

Just helped catching a mama and two twelve-week kittens this evening. They are with the vet now to be cleaned from flees, worms and to be neutered. In a few days they will put out in a safe place where they will have food and water on a daily base. And yes it is on the taxpayers account and I find it ok. Until we create laws that protects cats from becoming wild it is a common responsibility to take care of them.

Well I left a comment ,I did not see any point in commenting on tnr because crackpots
like some of those I would not waste my breath on.

My comment was aimed at the bismarck tribune

Some of the comments I have read here are obviously posted by people who are either mentally degenerative Ignoramus's or just plain crackpots who have no worthy point to make, and no place in a civilised society. If you(The bismarck tribune)want people to express a legitimate comment then, have them register and login. But I suspect you would rather have these crackpots here.

and being the fair person that i am here is the editors reply.

For instance, I disagree very much with your post, but I'm glad to post it and let others think about it. Just because I disagree doesn't make one of us an "ignoramus."

It seems the bismark tribunes editor sees these crackpots as genius's

Taxpayers pay for euthanizing animals at the shelter....and TNR reduces the number of animals that have to be euthanized, thus it is actually a good thing for taxpayers to pay for TNR (although most TNR efforts aren't currently funded this way).

A few counties are providing funding for TNR efforts..but most TNR is paid by donations or by private trappers. Some vets will provide a deep discount or even volunteer their services.

Just wanted to add that if taxpayers are concerned about cost they should consider that (according to indyferal.org) the average cost nationwide for shelter/animal control facilities to trap, hold and euthanize one feral cat is $130. Indyferal and its volunteers can humanely, trap, vaccinate, evaluate, fix and return the cat to the site for $20. My TNR group pays a little more per cat (through private donations, grants and out-of-pocket), but it still way less than what it costs the shelters to trap and kill them. TNR is simply more cost effective and the most humane and effective way to control the feral cat population.

Argh, I wish there was a program to euthanize stupid humans.

I posted a comment but it didn't show up. It's probably a lost cause anyway.

I just looked and there is a couple on there from'vic'.

But yes I tend to agree with you,Narrow minded imbeciles cannot comprehend anything other than what they think.

These people use those kind of 'comment boxes' just to vent their hatred and antagonise people. They are very sad people.

They are not worth the effort.
