I mentioned in a few posts that I recently got a small job (let me repeat, small job) at the small pet store down the road from my house. My schedule is pretty much Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and some Saturdays, from open to close (10-6 weekdays, 9-6 Saturdays). I'll admit that it's really like being paid to just sit around, because hardly anyone comes in.. yesterday I sat around for eight hours by myself and two people came in.. yeah.. I personally think the hours should be shorter with the amount of business. Anyways.. so I've been getting a bit irritated with things. I'm there to take the place of the store owners mom while she's out for surgery, and the lady who runs the store is still supposed to work Monday, Wednesday, and the Saturdays that I don't work (she has grooming appointments those days).. but lately they've been asking me to come work when it's supposed to be her day.. like today. A bunch of people called for her, and I told them she'll be in tomorrow (today, 7/26), and others came in wanting to talk to her, or called making grooming appointments, and then they ask if I can come in instead after all of this. I was a little upset, because after today, I have to work Thursday-Saturday, and I was planning to do stuff today, so I said I didn't know, and I'd call if I couldn't. I ended up calling and leaving a message saying that I was reminded of a few appointments in town, and that I could come in at about 2:30 (after all the grooming appointments are done). I know it's like I'm getting paid to sit around, but I do like to have days to do what I want.. not just sit there for eight hours by myself. Am I making a big deal out of something I shouldn't be? I just think it seems like after being told I'm taking someone's place, I'm being asked to take both of their places, and even after I made several appointments, either for grooming, or anything else. I already had to work last Saturday, and it was supposed to be my Saturday off.
