Okay I am reposting this here as a health question because now i am starting to wonder if something is wrong.

Theo is a 14 week old Persian.

He screams like a Banchee when you picked him up or pet him. I do not mean meowing. He yells at the top of his lungs like you are killing him! I tried to brush him tonight and got a headache!

I just want to make sure nothing is hurting him and that is just the way he is..

He is going on like he is being tortured. I am trying to handle him more so he stops all the noise! But it is not working.
Sebastian is a talker so I am used to that but I have never heard a cat especially a persian go on like this. Its like screaming. And it is only if I try to pick him up or handle him.

He was just at the vets yesterday and it never occured to me to ask because I figured he was just a yeller and he did not yell at the vets.

To be honest it is not almost seems like it hurts him to be pet or handled. I just went over to pet him and he screamed the entire time and got up and ran away.

I keep saying screaming because it is not meowing, it is like a high pitched shriek...it scares Sebastian.

Maybe I will make an appointment tomorrow just in case...does this sound at all normal??

It really doesn't sound normal. How long have you had him? Did he do this the day your brought him home? Is he scared of you and doesn't want to be touched because hes scared? Sure doesn't sound like normal persian begavior. I guess if it was me I would take him back to vets just be on the safe side.Let us know how it goes. maybe hes just a loud persian...

I have had him since Friday and he is most definately not scared of me or Sebastian.

He has been loud since I got him but I do not remember him screaming everytime I picked him up or pet him. But I was also trying to pay more attention to the resident cat then him for the first few days.
He just does not want to be touched and screams when you do. I am wondering if maybe he was not properly socialized? But he is not scared of anyone who comes in the house.

Also he had a rabies shot at the vets yesterday...could that make him sick? It is just weird...I hope nothing is wrong with him.

This doesn't sound normal - I'd take him to the vet first thing in the morning - I'd be prepared to take him to an ER vet tonight.

ETA: good luck - please let us know how it goes.

This kind of sounds like...whats it called...I think hypersensitivity? I'm not sure that is the right word. Its a condition where even touching the fur causes painful sensations and can lead to erratic behavior. Usually treated by medication. I read about it in a behavior book. Just throwing that out there as an idea. Hard to say. My cat Hope was not handled much as a kitted due to a deformity (she grew out of) becuase of this she gets very vocal, half growls, half meows when you pick her up. She is not aggressive, just very vocal. She also squirms like a child in a tantrum. After a year of working with her being held she is much better but still vocalizes. It could just be this...but it sounds more severe.
