Theo is a screamer! If he wants your attention he does not meow he yells! I picked him and he did not like it and started screaming! I was trying to brush him and he was yelling like I was killing him! Now I am not talking about a meow or a whine..I mean howling so high pitched it startles me!! I have never heard a kitten or cat sound like that especially a persian. I am not hurting him and he will do it when he wants attention or does not like what you happen to be doing.

No wonder Sebastian is running the other way!

anyone ever have a kitten do that? Do you think he will grow out of it? He is 14 weeks.

I do not mind a talker, Sebastian talks all the time to me. But Theo is screaming at me all the time. Maybe he has not learned how to properly meow yet? Is it a behavior thing that can be corrected?

I got Sebastian at 6 months old so the tiny kitten is new to me

I totally understand!! But my situation is a little different. I had a feral kitten that adapted VERY well to inside cat life from approx 3 months old. Well about 1 month ago I had a new neighbor move in upstairs (college kid I think) While I was at work he stated that he saw Zipper (the kitten - who was 10 months old by then and had a vet appointment to be spayed the very next day) in my kitchen window which he opened picked her up and let her out. He says he felt sorry for her and thought she wanted to play outside and get excersise (IDIOT!!) Well to make a long story short she came home (Thank God) but...... pregnant. We now have the cutest 3 week old kittens now (4)
I am lucky to have a large home and being completly obessed with cleaning since I already had 3 cats (1 calico - Tummy, Zipper and baby Puddy (who I found at 2 weeks orphaned near his deceased littermates.))

I am very involved with the new kittens since Zipper brings me to them every time I get home from work. One of them who ironically named Sebastian cries until I pick him up and stroke his back until he falls asleep. I can then put him back in the box. He is nursing well with Zipper, she cuddles with them but he still wants me. I feel bad because now that he is 3 weeks old he can see me enter the room. As soon as he sees me yep you guessed it cry cry cry. I feel bad for Zipper since she looks at me with worry. Is that normal for a kitten who is VERY well taken care of by the queen to cry for the human "mom"?

I have one that has a very obnoxious meow (like "NOW!NOW!") when he wants something he's not getting. The rest of the time he's fine

Other than that, don't know.

As long as it's not disturbing their bond, I wouldn't worry too much. Have you asked your vet?

Ling was a screamer - she was first out of the box sitting at your feet demanding you pick her up. She still talks a lot even when you do pick her up and pet her.

Hopefully your little kitten will quiet down soon

I'd be so freaked out if my cat screamed instead of meowed.

My oldest has a very soft meow and you have to be up close to hear her.

The youngest loves to chatter at me and has a wide assortment of different sounding meows, including one that is loud and frantic sounding when she's carting around her rolled up socks. But I've never had a cat shriek like you describe.

I hope it settles down and that's not going to be the permanent meow.

I asked him and he said that because she (Zipper) is so attached to me he also sees me as something he can bond with. I am so amazed with how well she does with them. I can hear her cubbling(kind a cry talk thing) to them all the time. It's cute. Now they are starting to get their teeth and Ouch! It is funny because I also have a 10 week old orphaned kitten (who I just learned is a bengal HUGE kitten at 6 lbs and not fat per vet) he wants to play but he is so big and clumsy but the little ones beat up on him

my cat is a screamer, she screams for everything, even when i get up to move after i have stroked her she screams, when i go to bed and wake up the next morning she screams, and when i pick her up after she has been screaming at me for 10 minutes and stroke her and put her down she screams again! and most of all when she sees food her scream gets even louder and she really screams like her life depends on it lol. only on a few occasions she miaows properly.

First be sure he isn't somehow hurting when you pick him up or brush him. My Garfield was just yellling at the dog Misty this morning...he sounded like he was injured because the noise was so loud and insistant. He just wanted her to get away from the window so he could look out undisturbed.

Hopefully it is just a behavior thing, and he will outgrow it. Maybe check with the breeder and see if it is something his parents do!

Thanks for all the feedback guys! He was just being a butt

He has not done it since that day and I think he was just throwing a temper tantrum about being held and brushed. Just like children!!

He is just vocal. and has returned to his normal meowing. I contacted the breeder and she said his sister is very vocal as well.
