Anyone have any good advice on how to stop animals (have no idea what) from digging up my bulbs? I am in flowerbed h--- right now. After spending quite a few dollars prettying up my flowerbeds over the last few years, I am discovering half eaten bulbs and destroyed perennials everywhere. It's heartbreaking because there's alot of time involved here and I'm not quite sure how to salvage what is left. Chicken wire would have been ideal had I done this from the get go but, I didn't so now it's: save what remains. Insects are also attacking all the leaves in one flower bed.

ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.

Put some moth balls along the perimetre - it will keep away skunks and racoons.

Sorry you've had so much damage done to your flower beds, G. I don't have any advise, I have a similiar problem with squirrels digging in my flower bed. Will mothballs work as an effective repellant for them too?

I don't see why not as it is the moth ball order that keeps the animals away!

Good luck with the flowerbeds. I know how you feel...I have many beautiful iris planted by the garage, and one of my dogs has taken to pulling them out, bulbs and all and chewing on them. I gave him a swat on the butt with one of them and that seemed to help.
