Hello

A bunch of cats have gone missing in my neirbourhood, the vet seems to think fishers are responsible and that because of all the construction (they are cutting down forest here to make a new subdivision) fishers have began going into the area and taking out peoples cats!

No one has actually caught them in the act just cats go missing.

DOes anyone here have experience with fishers??? Are they really exceptional cat killers ? I thought a person could be stealing the cats but im not so sure anymore...

I don't know what a fisher is???

I don't put it past anyone to take cats and do mean things... just another reason to keep them inside or supervised outdoor adventures.

That is very terrible if it's them. You should set up a neighborhood watch and see if anyone can witness it. And then sue their pants off if you catch'em.

(Okay, if you are talking about an animal then this post is kind of idiotic. Sorry! I thought it was like, a person who does construction or timbering. That's sad if all those animals are being kicked out of their habitat and then eating cats. How terrible.

Everyone laugh at me now!)

Yes Fishers will kill and eat cats. They are very very fast and they have a reputation of hunting and eating cats. We have them in Maine and this is the time of year many out door cats are killed by Fishers. They have a terrible eerie howl they make at night. It raises the hair on the back of your neck when you hear one. So keep your cats inside if there are Fishers around. They've been known to attack people if cornered. They are very viciouse and fast.Big teeth sharp claws. Scarey animal....
