Awww...so sorry you didn't get a job.

That's one thing that really burns me about hiring managers. They don't understand that you really don't need to hear "You were our second choice" because that doesn't change anything.

I heard it so many times the year and a half that I interviewed and B did too. He heard it worse though and this surprises me from the social work field "You were highly qualified, perfect for the position, but we decided to go with someone else".

Hopefully you find something better and soon!

Aw Kenz - that's depressing for sure, but look at it this way - there is something much better waiting for you.

I truly believe in karma and there being reasons why things happen. Chin up girl - it's coming.

I am in PA. and we can collect after we missed one pay period providing we meet the other eligibility requirements. What state are you in? 6 weeks seems like a long time. Might want to make a phone call on that and to see what else might be out there.

I'm pretty sure.... I live in Minnesota.

My boss's daughter had to collect when she got laid off, and thats how it was for her about 2 years ago

Don't worry...I know its stressful I have been there.

Just think of it this way: you have John and Harley & Davidson.
You are blessed and those sweet kitty snuggles will definately make you feel better!

It will work itself out and the job will pop up when you least expect it. Even if you need to take a job that pays less, you can always continue job hunting afterwards and at least you will have some money coming in.

Today is ending up being a miserable day - 1st the basic training thing, and now I didn't get the ONE job I most wanted.

I just want to go home and cry
I'm sorry you're having such a rough day. But do know that everything happens for a reason. You may not understand it now at this point but every action has its purpose. See this as a sign that there is a job out there that will fit your life better, you just need patience.
Believe me, I'm learning a lot of patience these last few months in my life!

Remember, life usually gives you what you need, not necessarily what you want.

mckenzie, I took the liberty of doing a bit of research for you.. hubby has spent like 50 % of the last couple years on umemployement so I learned a bit. Go to http://www.uimn.org/ui/payment.htm
Basically it tells you that you can expect to be paid like the third week after you are elgible for benifits. You don't get paid the first week. Its called the waiting week, which is odd. But, if you think about it, you will probably get your last check from your employer during the first week or two.
I don't know all the rules in MN, but I know in Mass you can even work a few parttime hours while collecting and still get your full check... If you explore the web page a bit more you find out more of the ins and outs.
I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I just put in for a new job at my work myself. But you know you did pretty well at the interview and that should boost your confidence. Keep looking, and going on interviews. You are smart to be so proactive.

Oh gosh, thank you so much for getting that site for me! I'm going to have to do a little research I do believe.

Its just SO frusterating knowing that I'm going to be without a job, but I don't know when they will be shutting the doors on the shop. My boss is currently looking @ buying another building to open our own shop, so hopefully.... HOPEFULLY, that goes thru, that would be excellent!

Thanks Gail

I haven't heard anything there yet - all I know is that they wouldn't pay what I get now and I can't afford to get any less.

This is so darn frusterating!

I'll say. So basically, they are closing your shop, but you won't know until you show up to work & the doors are locked? Are they giving you any warning(more than an few hours)?

I really hope you can find a decent job. Because if you can't, then when I graduate I never will.

I kninda know how you feel Kenz. Lee is the one who pays our mortgage and he loses his job Thrusday.
Luckily he has some work lined up to start but its construction (hey now I will have my own HOT construction worker) but that is temporary until he can find something better. Good luck!

Its scary, isn't it?

Unemployment isn't going to pay me what I need to be paid, thats for sure.

I'm the one who pays the majority of the bills - (we split everything in 1/2), but I pay the most of it all usually. And without my steady job, I don't know how we're gonna make ends meet.... I got no sleep last night thinking about this.

You can't worry about what you can't control. That is how I am dealing with it. No unemployement doesn't pay what you need to pay bills. Is John still working 2 jobs?
