So, I'm here at work today, trying to get my mind off of the fact that my brothers girlfriend has been shipped off to basic training early, so I call over to the Insurance Company that I interviewed with last week to handle a claim with - so we're talking about the claim and the repairs, and we get done with that, and he tells me that he filled the position that I interviewed for with someone else

He said I was 2nd in line - which makes it even worse - that I was SO close to getting the job.

Today is ending up being a miserable day - 1st the basic training thing, and now I didn't get the ONE job I most wanted.

I just want to go home and cry

Thanks guys....

I just NEED to find a job - they are 99.9% sure that they are closing the shop where I work now - but they don't know when - could be 2 months, could be 2 weeks - they don't know. Thats why I'm job hunting right now - I could be without a job soon and I can't afford that.

I'm just lost.

Oh Kenz
I'm sure a great job is just around the corner. It can take ages - just ask ugaimes, she was looking for awhile and now has the perfect job!
Just don't get too down about it, it will take time.

in a pile of open toed shoes!
Awww, Mackenzie, it'll be ok.... maybe you should go home and have a good cry fest. Sometimes it's good to cry and get it all out.... and maybe you'd feel alot better. And don't take offense to being second in line....when I was in charge of hiring, it wasn't an easy task, sometimes I'd want to hire one person, but only had a budget of so much to pay the new employee, and the person I wanted to hire I wasn't able to cause they were way out of my budget, or there was someone who had specifically that experience, and although I felt the other person would be a better "fit" it was "recommended" that we go with the person that would need less training etc. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason! That job was not the right one for you! Go home, relax, take a bath, have a glass of wine, cry it all out, eat some chocolate, play with Harley and his sidekick Baby Davidson and you'll feel better in the morning!

This is great advice! If you feel like crying, go right ahead, it's a terribly frustrating place to be. Good luck with your hunt, I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thanks Heather, I really wish I could do that!

I have to put in so many hours now, so I get that extra money just in case I am without a job - I need to start saving now

John's mom's work just opened up with a secretarial job - so I'm going to apply for that.... I just cannot believe this.

Aw, don't worry too much Kenz. You'll find the right job soon..these things happen for a reason. It just means that an even better oppurtunity is around the corner.

Just keep your head up and keep applying and trying. You will be fine.

I can imagine how worried you are...just remember it could be so much worse..You are a smart, hardworking girl and will find a good job soon.

I'm here if you need to talk...I know these rough patches are brutal sometimes.

Who knows, maybe the person they hired over you won't work out and then you'll get the call to work for them? Stranger things have happened - and I understand how frustrated you must be, but you should feel really good about being 2nd - how many resumes did they weed through before interviewing anyone, how many people did they interview, and you landed 2nd place? I'd say that's pretty darned good!

I'm sending you good vibes - everything happens for a reason, even if we don't always know what the reason is right away. Maybe your dream job is right around the corner, but if you'd landed this one you might not have come across the opportunity.

I'd give you big hugs if I could reach you from here - if you get a chance later, go out for a nice putt on your bike, maybe that will help you to feel a little bit better.

Do you have unemployment where you are? If so, I wouldn't rush into another job that fast. Take a paid holiday, and take your time with interviews. Sometimes companies give severence packages, if you leave now, you won't be entitled to that. Don't be too hasty. There will be another job out there you like.

There is unemployment - but you can't get it for 6 weeks after you are laid off - I can't afford to not have an income for 6 weeks - no way possible.

This place won't offer a severance package, no way. They are too tight with their money and don't care about the employees - unfortunately
