Hi everyone!

I'm Sarah... I've almost always had a cat my entire life. From 5-15 we had Rascal, then 16-23 I had Lexie & Tigger but had to leave them behind when I moved into my first apartment- my brother was able to take them when he moved out though so they're still around! So for about the past year I've been catless
but about a month ago my boyfriend and I bought our first house!!
I told him there was no question about it- when winter comes around we were getting two kitties!!!!! Luckily for me we've seemed to have inherited a stray last week so I don't have to wait any longer! I think we're going to call him JD- we can't really decide though.

I'm pretty sure he belongs to someone- at least he may be their indoor/outdoor cat. He is extremely friendly & has been declawed in the front and doesn't seem to mind being inside versus outside or the other way around. I posted a few signs around saying we found him but if he isn't claimed by this Friday he's MINE!
So he's really what has brought me to this site...

As a side note- I do have a question about converting an outside cat to an inside one and litter box training an adult- where would be the best place to post those type of questions?

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
Sarah

Hi welcome to the forums! A nice stray cat is just as good as any kitten (as long as the personality is good). Hopefully you've been keeping him inside as he shouldn't really be outside at all if he's been declawed. It's possible he was an indoor cat that had goten out. Putting up signs is the right thing to do, also notifying local vets and shelters can be helpful too. You should probably post your questions in the behavior forum.

Hi there Sarah
we're so happy to welcome you and JD to TCS. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay with us - we're one great big family and you'll find loads of friends here. If I can help at all while you're finding your way around TCS just click on my username and send me a Personal Message - I'll do what I can to answer your questions

If JD had found himself without a home, I hope you will be very happy together. If he does have a home, I hope that you are able to reunite him with his companion soon. Thank you so much for taking care of him in any event

For the most part we're keeping him inside. In the beginning he stayed outside because I didn't have a litter box for him. Now that I have all the things he needs he stays inside but he still won't go in the litter box- so we let him out for a few minutes every once in a while so he can go potty. He just loves to sit on the back deck and soak up some sun!
