Rescue cat fang was diagnosed with cystitis today
. High protein but no blood in the urine. something else was high but I forget. Anyway, doc suggested the UTI food, but Fang has soft poop which is being controlled with sensitive stomach food. Is there a UTI food for sensitive stomachs? Vet suggested getting cranberry flakes from health food store and mixing it with the wet food. Not sure he will eat it (from a cat that was rescued in the winter dragging a chicken bone down the street!)
. A friend at work gives his cat cranberry treats which his cat likes and apparently is helping, as bouts of cystitis have ceased.
Fang got a shot of amoxicylian and we have pills to take. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Want to avoid mush poop, but want to avoid the cystitis too. Any advice?

Is the food you're currently feed canned or dry? When Willow had cystitis, we eventually tried medications (Amitriptyline). After weaning her off of that, I inherited a kitty water fountain. It's helped her drink more and we haven't had any major incidents since then. The biggest factor in her developing cystitis was stress. Are there things going on that are causing your kitty to be stressed out? Feliway might also help--we had a diffuser for a while. I'm not sure that there are any foods for sensitive stomachs that also help with cystitis, but switching to canned will help Fang take in more water which dilutes the urine.

His wet food is currently trader joes, chicken and rice, about 3/4 can aday. His dry is purina one sensitive stomach, he loves it. He loves his water and takes a good drink from the fresh bowl every day. Probably more, but I see the first gulp of the morning. I change water twice a day.
